About how often do you cut the heads off of cans and take the specs?

I was checking spec for initial setup. Not sure if there's a standard service schedule, but the seams will leak or fail if you get out of spec. I'd say checking it after a few 100 cans will be my plan. Then feel it out from there.

In your opinion: for how many cans per session is this machine suitable? Do you know when a MK16 makes sense?

I think the MK16 is more viable when you want to run Crowlers. This is a shorty, standard and tall can configuration only. I think... If I'm not mistake, the MK16 steps you into crowlers, resealables, and other larger format aluminum.

For small orders of cans, you can order directly from Oktober. I had them send me a couple boxes of cans. Lids were included.

How do buy the cans in bulk

If you want to buy bulk cans, you can find a couple suppliers who sell by the pallets. For homebrewers, you'll probably want a couple boxes which is harder to find suppliers for. Oktober sells small batches of cans and lids.

What if you find a seam measurement out of spec?

There's a number of adjustment points that you can modify to dial in the spec. You can raise or lower the can, as well as adjust the seam roller tolerances. Some trial and error in adjusting have been involved for me.
