I have been always highly fascinated at every mechanical engineered designed part of pinsetters. The hook that limits the table drop while the slot in the lever still extends the full stroke freely and returns to lift table back up. Smooth operation. I would like to see more how the hook functions and the switching that controls it.
@jaripekkajekunen2713 Жыл бұрын
Me too, because one of ours won't set the table down because the hook keeps jammin it, also the sweeper just goes down and won't sweep..

By far the very best and clear explanation of how the gear box controls the various cycles and definitions of each cycle, please make more videos!!!, Well done

Thanks Rob. We have the old 1957 4 lane alley sent you a pic of last year. This is great info for us as we're a voluteer group that keeps the lanes going. Love anything you put out there on these old Brunswicks.

As someone who only worked on A2s with Scotch Yokes, the lowering link info is useful. There's still some centers near me that run the lowering link A variant.

I remember when they first came out with the Astroline scoring system, the deck would lower on 2nd ball, touch/seek pins but not pick them up at 90. Then the rake sweeps the pins away for the new set of pins, stop at 270 if the next bowler was not yet selected. To achieve that, was the deck holding hook always "not holding" the deck up? The deck lowered on both 1st & 2nd balls. How did that work?

How would you adjust the dashpot for the clutch plunger lever? We have some machines (converted A2’s with slower motors) that either have too long of a delay, or not enough delay, if the ones that are connected to the dashpot. We also have a machine that has a stuck dashpot, that won’t move. How would you fix that? Is it possible to make a video on the dashpot?

This was an incredibly interesting presentation! Thank you so much! Do you think you could demonstrate what happens when the deck hook is not in place correctly at 2nd ball? I'm curious whether the deck comes down violently or just slides down slowly :D
@GarageBowlingAlley2 жыл бұрын
Oh it would drop like a rock and bounce. Poor gearbox can take it but I would never do it to it. It would free fall though

@@GarageBowlingAlley thank you! Now I get, why people can get killed. Is this the reason why 90 degree overtravel was dismissed on the A-2s?
@GarageBowlingAlley2 жыл бұрын
Not needed on an A2 as you have the rake release/shotgun systems. On an A you would have a delayed rake drop on second ball but with the overtravel the pinsetter advances 90 degrees and speeds up the process so it drops and sweeps instead of the delay.

Less common is the 180 for us and its usually the 5 pin doesn't trip the turret to drop pins but not always. Sometimes it is a mystery. Any ideas?

Hey fellas, my local A2 house has a lot of stops and I've been thinking, could you make a vid explaining how would one go about slowing down an A2? If it helps they're japanese.

Smaller pulley on your motor. Get an A set and your gearbox would smile on you

Replaced the bottom deck cable took off the cam plate to get the new cable on I pulled the deck forward to put the plate back on that has the two bolts in it. The rear cable pulley has two rollers is there a certain position that rear pulley has to be in before reinstalling the plate because after doing that I have a deck jam . Deck will not pull forward with the cable...Any help would be great Thanks
@GarageBowlingAlley Жыл бұрын
Spring should be held in place by the opposite side plate, usually you can pull the deck forward and it will put the Geneva roller back into the correct position When I have had my cable too tight mine has slipped out of the groove. Sliding the deck usually got it back in.

Ok,I'm puzzled. Our out of range cycle wipes the pins clear and I get a call for resetting pins (league only) am I doing it wrong or is it just the machine?
@RSEngineer232 жыл бұрын
A Converted A2 mechanic here, check that the out of range latch is down, and adjusted correctly. They may be up for a reason, like at my center. They won’t release on some lanes, so they’re flipped up, meaning that you have to pull AND hold the hook until you see the deck come up then come down slightly getting caught on the deck holding hook before releasing the reset hook. Hope this helps!

does the detector of strike/second ball work mechanically or electronically?

mechanically

At my local center the out of range is automatic the pin chaser does not have to pull the hook. I have seen one lane that goes into the out of range the deck will go back up, the rake will sweep and a new set of pins are spotted. What is wrong with this machine?
@GarageBowlingAlley2 жыл бұрын
If on an out of range instead it goes up, sweeps, then comes back down on second ball leaving nothing ? Then the detector rod is out of adjustment and it’s detecting standing pins instead of detecting an out of range. I see that a lot where I bowl. Just need to lengthen the rod a little bit. But there are lots you can put on the pinsetter that will cause the pinsetter to automatically clear correctly. USA has them on the top 10 lanes.
