Crumby rainy weather here all day. I open the door while I cook dinner and fling arrows out the kitchen door. 😜

I shot this bow several times, it's an interesting bow. It was very dead in the hand, very quiet...pretty stable, but I personally did not like the draw cycle and the shot experience. It has a lot going for it, but it just wasn't for me. I went with SS34 instead and love it! Good review!

These are not junk bows. Gearhead just needs to hire someone to ensure quality assurance that when the bow gets shipped, the setup is correct. I’ve watched a guy at my local range (in US) who is an experienced archer, and he was shooting lights out with this exact bow. As other reviewers have said, the Gearhead is not a bow for beginners given that you can tweak so many aspects of the bow. The Gearhead bows made of carbon fiber are worth the extra cost as it’s so much lighter than the aluminum models.

Good review. I think if you shot with that bow for a month you’d be dialed in 100%. If you were hunting, you would be very successful.

You don't have a peep sight, but a knot? Can you explain why it's a knot and how that works better than a round peep?

Will Gearhead sell the 36" bow with the 34" grip? Best of both worlds, at least for you.

I really like your perspective and value your opinion. I’m in the USA and I’m looking for a hunting bow under $700. What would you consider the top 3 in that $500-$700 range? I’m not worried about speed. I prefer easier draw and easier stability. It will be for hunting only and shots will be 30 yards or less. I don’t have many shops near by so I need to narrow my search so I can call shops further away to see if they have them before making the drive. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Try a PSE Stinger. They're super reliable and very accurate. Stephen shoots the Stinger just as well as bows costing quadruple, or more.

@@liamboyle9199 A good fix for this is to install a small vibrations damper, or something small, in between the string, and when you move it up or down, it changes/adjusts peep rotation.

I think Steve has mentioned this before but shoot-through risers are more expensive to manufacture. Most in the know will be aware that these well-known bow companies are reluctant to step into the future by making more of these because it will eat into their profits either through high prices and less sales, or much lower profit margins. Hence, other than some material science advancement, the overall design of the compound bow has not changed all that much in over 50 years. The pace is glacial. Geezus, if PCs advancements were that slow, we'll still be using PC XTs from the late 70s, running at 4.77 mHz albeit with better looking cases of today. 😏

Gearhead has no 5 gn/lb arrow max weight. They say the arrow can`t weigh lesser than 260 gn no matter what poundage. Thats trusting your quality!

Honestly, conventional bows are obsolete. The future lies with shoot-through risers, ambidextrous bows.
@ScottPankhurst

not while good form and geometry continue to be important. ambidextrous bows are a compromise, not best practice.

@Scott - form & geometry? Lol, sure you are not channelling the inner luddite? Conventional compound bows are obsolete. Compound bows with the shoot-through riser, ambidextrous designs are the future. In fact I daresay these bows will be attracting more folks into archery than the conventional (and very tired) designs, which we all know have obvious limitations on form and function to the average archer.

😆 you think shoot through raisers are new? I got a 15 year old Dominator Pro, and a PerformX. Yet my go to bow is a EVO EVL 34. Shoot through raisers are a niche within a niche. Not the future.
@robertlee8113
@robertlee8113 2 жыл бұрын
@@jpbeck1 Never said they are new but they are newer than the very tired typical compound bow designs. These Gearhead & Liberty Archery type bows are certainly and slowly showing their value to a wider audience. These types of bows are the future given a few recent contests have been won by such (Gearhead) bows. I cannot imagine why anyone would even want to go back to conventional compound bows after shooting with such bows. Then again nostalgia, familiarity and endorsements all play huge roles. Show less
