I have a 1984 foxy that unfortunately was used and abused by a previous owner. The car looked and sounded ok when I got her but after digging into it to start my resto or at least make it more reliable and prettier, I found lots wrong. Mostly wiring is just trashed and some interior problems as well. I've done a lot in the 5 years I've owned her. The engine was I believe a swap from a 4 banger or v6 to a 302. It was out of a 78 truck according to the block code. I have since sourced out an actual 1984 Gt 302 engine. I did a port and polish and refreshed the valvetrain, put in a Melling oil pump timing set and rv style cam. redid all gaskets and seals and refreshed bearings and piston rings. I've eliminated some of the emissions stuff upgraded the front spindles, struts and such to 1988 and the world class t5 and 8.8 -373 rear end. I've tried my best to start on the body work and interior resto, however I have many problems with the dash and wiring behind it. There are several wiring points that have ben cut and patched or missing all together. the dash pad is like a typical one all cracked and full of holes. my front seats are almost exactly like the ones that you have in the van except the foam isn't holding up as well. Personally I'd love that car as it would be a almost prefect donner car to mine. What a cool story such a shame. I personally don't understand the whole thing of buying a car then storing it in a garage or barn for years. sure may be worth money some day or it gets forgotten about and rots away. Cars should live on and be driven for the enjoyment! That in my opinion is a cool find. if I were a millionaire id probably try and save it, but I'm not so I'd donate the parts so other foxy ladies may run on. Cheers mate : to whatever may come of her !

In Rochester Minnesota two brothers of high school age worked and saved up cash to buy a new 1985 Mustang GT which I believe that they ordered. It fell off of the rail car during transport to the dealer and it was totaled. They contacted Ford Motor Company and Ford said it’s not our problem so they sued Ford in court and won so Ford built them a new 1986 Mustang GT. I remember talking to them at least once while cruising north Broadway in Rochester Minnesota in my 5.0 4 speed Pace Car which I bought in August 1987. I believe it was red. I wonder what happened to the 1985 GT that fell off of the rail car? In 1995 I worked at Minneapolis Auto Auction and I got to drive used cars off of 3 level auto carriers and you feel like you are driving off of a cliff up on the 3rd level. While working there one day a red 82 GT came in. No 5.0 badge so I opened the hood and was surprised to see the 200 inline 6. I don’t remember if it had the hood scoop.

If there is any collector value to the car, then it is worth saving. Yes, it's a project, but that's part of the fun. :) If it is just another 'Foxbody Mustang', then it would make a great parts vehicle for something a bit more worth restoring.

being an 11 original mile car it would definitely be cool to see it fully restored and definitely worth some serious coin but even if it was fully factory restored that shell will always be a totaled car and will diminish the value significantly. i suppose it would just come down to if it was a sentimental thing(clearly not), money being no object a wanting to restore it for a personal collection, or if restoring to sell would bring a potential profit. personally, i would have neither the skill, money, or desire to restore it.

Would love to have that as a stock motor for my 1984 RS Capri! My original motor's crank broke at around 190,000 miles and I had to scrap it :( I figured screw it because it was no longer original and replaced it with a 347 stroked roller block, It would be nice to go back to stock motor if I ever wanted to.
@GearHead7043 жыл бұрын
Sorry to her that, but I bet that 347 is fun though. I'm thinking of putting that in my SSP (a 347)

@@GearHead704 The 347 is awesome! It's putting out around 360 to the wheels and with all my other mods I'm somewhere around 2900lbs, so it gets up and goes pretty quick. I also have a 150 shot of nitrous I installed that I'm still waiting to try :)

rare car you got there, only made 2604 5.0 5 speed hatches made, what isnt known is, how many were t-top, sunroof, and plain hatch. the ultra rare one is a turbo 2.3 convertible, only 104 of those out there which may be the rarest fox mustang ever i think. in my opinion, that is one of the best looking and rarest foxes of them all. definately the best looking 4eye fox mustang for sure. i always wanted one of those. that front bumper cover is so dam cool with the marchal fog lights. too bad Shelby himself sued Ford stopping the production run early. you should register it on the GT350 registry. convertible doors can be used as replacements on t-top cars. my first fox mustang was a 84 GT t-top car.
