By-Pass factor: The inability of a coil to cool or heat the air to its temperature is indicated by a factor called by-pass factor (BPF) or Coil Bypass Factor. This inability is due to the coil inefficiency and some amount of air just bypassing the coil without getting affected by it.
What is the bypass factor of a heat exchanger?
The bypass factor is a ratio: you take the difference between the evaporator coil temperature and outlet air temperature as compared to the inlet. In other words, you find the difference between your TD and delta T. When air moves over the coil, only some of it contacts the coil's surface.
What is bypass factor in psychometry?
Bypass factor is a function of physical and operating characteristics of the conditioning apparatus. It represents that portion of the air which is considered to pass through the conditioning apparatus completely unaltered.
What is the definition of bypass factor?
Solved] The bypass factor of cooling coil
Explanation: Bypass factor (BPF): It is defined as the ratio of loss in cooling or heating to the ideal cooling or heating. It is denoted by X.
How can bypass factors be reduced?
The bypass factor increases with the increasing velocity of air passing through it because less time air contact with the coil. It decreases with a decrease in fin spacing and increases in the number of rows because of more time of air in contact with the coil. The bypass factor also depends on the placing of the coil.
What is the difference between contact factor and bypass factor?
Contact Factor is the part of the total air through the coil which comes in to 'contact' with the surface of the cooling coil. Bypass Factor is part of the total air through the coil which fails to come into contact with the surface of the cooling coil.
How is HVAC calculated?
HVAC Load Calculation Example
To calculate the estimated HVAC load for a house with 2,500 square feet, 12 windows, and 3 exterior doors occupied by 4 people, simply plug it into this formula: 2,500 x 25 = 62,500 base BTU. 4 people x 400 = 1,600. 12 windows x 1,000 = 12,000.
How many cfm is a 10 ton unit?
Most packaged air conditioning equipment is designed for, and rated at, 400 CFM per ton
What is apparatus dew point?
Answer and Explanation: Apparatus dew point (ADP) temperature is the efficient surface temperature utilized by the cooling coil. Thus, this temperature is also regarded as coil temperature. Also, ADP temperature is an existing fixed rate that is both latent and sensible to gain heat within the required rates.
What is a bypass in simple terms?
Meaning of bypass in English. to avoid something by going around it: We took the road that bypasses the town. The oil pipeline bypasses the protected wilderness area.
What is an example of bypass?
Examples of bypass in a Sentence
Verb To bypass the city, take the highway that circles it. Is there a way to bypass the bridge construction? He bypassed the manager and talked directly to the owner. She managed to bypass the usual paperwork.
What is a bypass in physics?
an electrical circuit, esp one containing a capacitor, connected in parallel around one or more components, providing an alternative path for certain frequencies.
