@firefang600 also, in general, I'm team letting the Fenix family live on. I consider mainline Gears of War the story of the Fenix family. Similar to how mainline Star Wars is the story of the Skywalker family (granted, I don't consider the sequel trilogy Canon personally lolz)

Even just looking at the quality of each death and the outcome. It seems like they put more work into dels death than JD’s. And narratively fits better. A way to bring Marcus and his son together. Both losing their brother

Not only would Dels death bring Marcus and JD closer together but i believe it would bring JD and Kait closer together in their relationship aswell as we saw during Gears 5 their relationship was quite strained and Del was very neutral in the group

Yeah but JD staying dead adds some tragic and gritty realism touch to it. In real like you don’t always find closure. Ppl you have a strained relationship with don’t always live long enough (or you) for things to be “fixed”. It is extremely messed up tho cuz Marcus would yet again be suffering. It’s almost like his “thing” at this point. Lost his mom,best friend (Doms brother), father, Tai, Maria, Dom, father (again), and then finally his wife so it’s heartbreaking that he’d also have to lose his son but fits his tragic life :(

I think whomever dies should be a boss fight in Gears 6. They could be half human/half swarm and they're aware they're trying to kill you and they are talking/apologising to you during the fight. Also hope they don't kill off Marcus, as the face of the franchise I don't see how they can give him a death worthy that fans could get on board with. Finally after gears 6 I'd like to see a pendulum wars trilogy.

My theory is that JD lives and Del dies simply bc Marcus shouldn't lose his last and only family member he has left for 1, and 2 bc in gears 5 the lil boot camp into thing u play as Del for gathering combative data for the DeeBees basically mean in gears 6 the Deebees would Run, Mantel, Shoot, Knife ect just like Del, and also bc Del was with Kait throughout the story being there for her basically through thick and thin and that would make his death more sad and memorable. That personally what i think it may sound dumb but its the best i came up with lol.

I have played GOW 1-5 and I enjoy them very much. If there is going to be a new Gears game, I would like to see a prequal type of when Marcus was younger and a grunt recruit. Also, the game should focus on the origins of the Locus. Another suggestion, let Marcus' and the other crew members kids finish where their parents left off and show a new generation of Locus or a new breed of enemy.

I want to see Kates story wrapped up in the first half of the game. I would love to see the devs take a direction that none of us would expect. Maybe, after a final battle with the current enemy types, we get an outside alien invasion. Idk.

Kait story isn't getting wrapped up anytime soon its only just beginning, timeline wise we have only experienced 8 months into the new Gears of War story across Gears of War 4, Gears of War Ascendance, Gears 5, Gears of War Bloodlines & the Gears 5 Hivebusters DLC, it is likely the Swarm War is going to go on for 20-30+ years and we haven't finished the first year yet. There have been several references to Gears of War Universe Solar system & more recently mention of Space Exploration technology being developed so its likely in the far far future once the Swarm War ends and maybe the Locust are defeated for good that a soft reboot can take place set hundreds of years into the future where Humanity either left or abandoned Sera to explore Seras two moons or nearby Planet Risea which ofcourse could introduce all new enemy faction

I actually would prefer if JD is the survivor myself. I want to play the 1st 4 games, but skip 5. Probably will skip 6 as well if Kait is really set on being the protagonist on that game (I don't play games that force you to play as a female [Final Fantasy X Part 2 & Horizon Dawn, same thing]). But, if JD or Marcus become the next protagonist of a future game of either 6 or a future 7, 8, etc., etc, I'll play one of those as well.

I mean, with all that modern games are capable of, you could absolutely have an alternate story with both characters and in the beginning it asks you who lived then the campaign starts. Some alternate dialog conversations would be pretty simple but impactful so your decision would actually matter.

However the only way I would appreciate that to be canon is if it could serve JD to evolve as a character. I think the core issue with the story of 4 and 5 is that they decided to stick to close to the OG trilogy in the timeline. Gears 4 should have imo been set like 100 years after Gears 3. They shouldn't have brought back the grubs, even if I love them. I think what could have been killer was if they created a new threat that wasn't related to the grubs but was actually some seran species that mutated and evolved as a consequence of the Imulsion Countermeasure from Gears 3 finale. 100 years into the future they could have started fresh with new characters, change enough things up about the setting to accommodate for the 100 year timejump - we could have had many new technologies - not to mention it could show us the long-term consequences of the hammer strikes and the whole war and how humanity had to struggle to heal. Could have also led to some interesting new gameplay concepts. Feels like a grave mistake that they chose to essentially continue Gears trilogy story revolving around the grubs and Imulsion to some degree. Gears needs a (soft) reboot imo. Like God of War. Set it in the same timeline but like way into the future with a new main story to revolve around.

If The Coalition was staffed by smart people, they’d open Gears 6 with the reveal that Kait had been taken and the Choice part of Gears 5 happened entirely in her head with it being her hallucinated and delusional interpretation of JD and Del trying to save her. In reality, JD and Del are both alive and the protagonists of Gears 6. You know. IF The Coalition had smart people working for them. What’s probably going to happen is they’re going to triple down on all of Gears 5’s bad choices while trying to force a MW3 (2023) style campaign down our throats with this “more open world focus” we’ve been hearing rumbles about. Oh well.

Gears of War is part of Xbox Game Studios, making it exclusive to Microsoft. If this is really going to come out for Sony, that's one of the biggest losses for the Xbox and Microsoft is losing all of its exclusives because Halo will surely follow and even then a title for Sony. This would mean that Microsoft would cross a line that would be considered a betrayal by fans and will be viewed very negatively. Unfortunately, it's all about money here, and Xbox would lose its exclusivity with that as well.🫤
