I think it would make more sense to retcon the origin of the lancer to be made sooner than later. It doesn't make sense that it would take the cog a year to develop a counter to the thick locust Hyde.

Should be around front-middle phase when game progress, that’s the best time to develop and apply “prototype Mk2 Lancer” for field testing 🤔

I think having the best course of action is to have the Lancer MK2 and the Retro Lancer swap places in terms of in game function. However. Instead of a bayonet, we see Gears strapping stripped down normal chainsaws to their rifles. Soldiers talk, makes scense Tai's actions would get spread around. Especially because it worked. This would also give the COG the year span to develop the official MK 2. Gameplay wise, it should handle like it's Retro counterpart. Worse recoil, more damage, the classic chainsaw ability, maybe more ammo to counter the added weight up front. While the MK 1 should handle like the original Lancer we all know and love. This would make the unofficial MK 2 even more special, while having a balanced power dynamic between the two rifles.

If you read the Gears novels. All of this was explained years ago. They are quite entertaining if you can get a hold of them.

@@scvedgemaster8025 I think it is the Aspho fields novel. Not entirely sure since it has been a while. Basically, Marcus and Tai run into a hardware store that is being attacked by the locust. Tai ends up grabbing an power saw and kills a drone in the fight. After they return to base, Marcus meets up with his father and tells him about it. Then, presumptively, Adam Fenix helps develop the chainsaw lancer.

As an OG GOW player I can easily say they destroyed the series with DEI Starbucks hair garbage and a kamikaze course aimed at making the game more marketable to youth... will "E💥Day" get its testicles out of its man purse and bring back the hardcore gritty action we loved or fall prey to another computer algorithm advising the game maker to put a chick in it and make her gay😃💥🔥🌟 Everything about the original series was perfect except the way the rifle would rise straight up when firing on fully automatic... that's not "a thing" with people who know how to hold a weapon guys😒🤔😃 also enemies are too spongy so it feels like you're "hosing them down" not killing them with rounds and give our character a Spartan Kick and SLAM option with follow-up action to make it fatal... TRUST ME!

I'm gonna call it, E-Day will be the death of this franchise. The Coalition has shown how little talent they have, alongside how little passion they have, so it is very sad to say this, but I just can't see how GOW E-Day will be good under the hands of such a scummy company.
