That's a great looking set. Especially the ratchets and ratcheting wrench set. The case looks well made too.

When the drawers start coming with a cover or top so you don't have the sockets go flying if you bump the drawer or accidentally trip while carrying them, might consider buying a mechanics set again. Just trying to get the drawer slid back in seems like the sockets want to dance around. Most mechanics sets in a case like this seem to have this flaw. Give us a way to carry the drawer seperately so you don't have to use two hands - that would be nice.

This is a nice set, but the older set was better, no skips, and everything you would use

Have you compared this to the 243-piece set? Does this set have 22m for lug nuts or 24mm size sockets?
@GearSpinTools8 ай бұрын
I don’t have the 243, the highest this set goes up to is a 22m
@SaveAPennyBustANut8 ай бұрын
@@GearSpinTools Seems like the 232 set that in this video does go on sale for $200. The 233 set includes 3/8, 1/4 and 1/2 sockets. The 243 piece set, however, goes for $350 or so. At face value, the 232 is the better set. Maybe one of these you can borrow one to review and compare the two sets. Is $150 more worth the extra 10 more pieces?

Not sure what’s going on with some of the quality of GEARWRENCH right now. I’ve have a handful of different things from them that work great and love them but these big box sets the quality has been kinda rough for me at least. I got the 243 peice first and the box came with the locking mechanisms broken off and the box had a bunch of side to side wobble so I returned it. Then got this set and all the nurrling for the 1/4 was terrible so the sockets were all on there so loose and wobbled all over the place. The 3/8 stuff was better but still anything from the bottom drawer was wobbly on the ratchet too. Went into Home Depot and swapped it out for another today and everything seems normal now but haven’t actually got to use any of it yet. I’m a ski lift mechanic and we use a lot of there stuff at work but typically 1/2 drive stuff and that’s all been great plus there snap ring pliers are better than the knipix ones that are double the price

I don't get why people are bitching in the comments... I looked up the old GW 232pc kit (with the grooved top and hinged centered handle) from a year or 2 ago, and saw no difference in the selection of tools, skips, or quality (like any of us could tell a difference through a YT video anyways). Am I wrong? Seems like a good kit to me with little skips for the $$, as the cheaper Craftsman or Husky's were frustrating with the quality of the cases or the sheer amount of filler and skips they had. Thanks for the informative video!
@GearSpinTools11 ай бұрын
Yeah I don’t have the previous years set, but I doubt I would be able to tell a quality difference between them, if there was any. I think for the money this is a solid kit that is a step up from the craftsman, husky, Kobalt sets.
@SpeedySpartan11 ай бұрын
@@GearSpinTools Absolutely. GW and Tekton are a nice middle-ground where you can tell that they put effort into their kits unlike the cheaper ones, but aren't gonna make you re-mortgage your house like Snap-on, Matco, Mac, etc lol. Personally I'd say Tekton is a bit better than GW, but their 1/4 - 3/8 - 1/2 kits are sold separately and they don't include the screwdriver set or the wrenches in a nice portable all-in-one case. With those added the Tekton route would put you well over $275 probably...

They certainly wasted a lot of space in the top where the metric wrenches are. Atleast when compared to the Lowes Kobalt set or the Husky set. Still a good little keep in the truck / starter set. Would've liked to have seen some 1/2" drive sockets included.
@GearSpinTools Жыл бұрын
The wrenches on the top do take quite a bit of space, but the layout with them all in a row is nice.

Regular combination wrenches with a offset would of been better and the ratchets should of been hard handles so it would be better long term.

What I hate about these sets the socket and wrench skips is when you go buy them you have no place to put them in the box. I think that most people would rather pay the extra money to have no skips. I myself try not to buy sets like this cause you are buying the case I would end up throwing away.
@GearSpinTools Жыл бұрын
This set doesn’t have many skips, there’s a couple skips in the deep sockets but they give you the shallow. And the wrenches don’t have skips, which the standalone 18pc. Gearwrench wrench set does have some skips.
@michaelyee6226 Жыл бұрын
Yeah the only skip that I am surprised about is the deep 12 mm. But I will carry additional tools anyway, so no big deal. Just ordered this tool box on Home Depot, definitely seems like a great deal. Thanks for the video!

Per latest reviews. This is NOT real gearwrench quality anymore to get to 200$. The tools in this box are BELOW other gearwrench tools equivalence and none have P/N on them anymore.

Why would they make a 12 point ratchet wrench?! To purposely round heads? I get the 2 times you need a 12 point for rod bolts or driveshaft caps but just sell a specific wrench for it, more money for them anyways. The appeal of a 12 pt on a regular wrench is being more clockable, a ratchet wrench is mostly infinity clickable.
@GearSpinTools Жыл бұрын
A lot of wrenches are 12 point, I think they do it for overall accessibility.
@josephnavarro3620 Жыл бұрын
Most ratcheting wrenches are 12 point, not because they are made specifically for 12 point fasteners but because you're usually using them in tight spaces and it's easier to get a 12 point on a fastener then it is a 6 point when you don't have good access.
