I had to check because Gee is Cypriot so I feel she would be right and.... she is, I found a video from a greek news show that talks about the Xylofaguo Potato and the presenter said it exactly how Gee says it.

X in greek isn’t pronounced ‘ex’, it’s more of a hard ‘h’ or ‘ch’ sound, and in Cypriot Greek it’s closer to the way Gee pronounces it.
