Well they accepted Harry Potter, Aladdin and some more, it's just that they have loosen the definition 'cause they had to find TWENTY-FIVE titles. (as Will put it "you made us desperate") Really, VandalEyes Team could have called them on "no vehicles" per example, but I think they accepted characters that can fly by their own means (translation: if it's a vehicle, it is their own.).

Yeah that was a bad decision not to call Wil out on that... if you go that far out of your way for "can fly" you'll have to count every pilot "who can fly" and Marty McFly / Emmett Brown for their hovercraft version of the Delorean Time machine... OTOH... the borders for that are pretty fluent, aren't they? Rocketeer, iron Man or the Atom "fly" only through their technological means, which isn't that different from a vehicle. And do characters count that clearly only "glide" like Batman with his stiffened cape-wings or Condorrman with his self constructed flappable wingpack? In the end the only thing really hurting you here is the franchise rule as you basically can google "DC characters that fly" and will find dozens of JLA/JSA roundups/covers/posters/ that have a whole airforce of their own... Superman/Superboy/Supergirl/Power Girl (all Kryptonians/Clones of Kryptonians), Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter/Miss Martian, Green Lantern (plus technically all his fellow Lantern Corps members), Hawkman/Hawkgirl... all fly totally by their own powers / attributes. Mr Mxytzlpx (spelling?) could too. Captain Marvel and his Marvel family colleagues also fly by their own power. that's 12 named characters and a few dozen i could not come up with names for right now but Wil might know. Wasn't there a character in Mary Poppins that flew away and had to be kept on a leash like a balloon? Peter Pan also comes to mind and all his Lost boys and Wendy too... Johnny "human torch" Storm (Fantastic four) and his sister Sue "Invisible Girl" Storm too (using her forcefields to lift her up, still an inate ability and no technology). What were the names of the two evil angels from Dogma? Affleck's and Damon's roles? Oh and I almost forgot: Every Sayajin and many supporting characters in Dragonballs (like the Z team around Goku or the henchmen of Vegeta, Freeza or Boo) Merlin and Arthur in all versions of "the once and future king" including Disney's Sword in the Stone movie as well as all other unlimited shapeshifters like Garfield "Beast Boy" Logan (Teen Titans). The titular Girl in the movie "Ladyhawke" and the "Sorceress" from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe both by turning into birds...

I adore Geek Out! It's a great game to play if your gaming group is just massive (and few games can be expanded that big). Pop culture is a great one to play with the more muggly members of your family. I take the cards and play in line at conventions. It's SO fun. Just agree on the "how do we solve argument" rules before hand and have a blast.

Well, as for each question, the validity of the answers is to be clarified with the players. They accepted Frankenstein's creature but only one iteration of the "Franken's". With other players (or conditions, a show isn't the best place to start arguing about the technicality of is a rewinded time resurrection an actual resurrection or not) these may not have work. That's a kind of game where you learn if your friends are ill faith, and if your bonds are that tight XD

Dule810 Technically, Frankenstein's monster is not a zombie, he is a living creature made from dead parts. A zombie is dead body that is re-animated (but not alive). But you are right in that he wouldn't count, and that "shenanigans" is a great word that should be used more often.

The knight figurine is necessarily stop motion, because it's a real object. So I guess the idea was to make all of it look like stop motion, so that it wouldn't look so odd to have super smooth CGI, in the same frame as a stuttering stop motion knight. Which I can see might look a bit weird to have some parts, but not others, stuttering while the rest of the animation is silky smooth. You know, it's a consistency thing. So that everything's running at the same frame rate. It does make sense and if they hadn't done it that way, then you'd quickly realise why they should have done it that way. But, that said, I don't know if it actually works here. It's a sound idea, but the frame rate - albeit consistent - is just slightly too low, I feel. Low frame rates can be like that, though. There's a threshold. 10fps looks awful, 15fps is stuttering but "Saturday Morning Cartoon" acceptable, 20fps is almost smooth. There's very little in it number-wise - just 5 or 10 extra frames - but it makes all the difference to the viewer experience. Not that the idea of a consistent frame rate was wrong, just that it was set a bit too low - the wrong side of "jarring". A few more frames per second on the knight stop motion, allowing you to raise the overall frame rate of the whole thing and it probably would have worked just swell. Good theory, slightly dodgy execution. Just a few more fps and no-one would really have noticed enough to complain. It's just ever-so-slightly below that "it's jarring" threshold. p.s. Or, of course, the other option would have been to just CG the entire thing, so you don't have to worry about the problems of trying to mix real world things with virtual things together. But, indeed, "hindsight is 20 / 20 vision", as they say. Easy for me to say this now after-the-fact, when it's already been done. Not quite so easy anticipating that it might be a problem before you get going and are trying to plan out what you need to do.

More a critique of the game than her...but did Clare do anything? If I played that game with three other people, and one didn't get to actually do anything the whole game, I would have called that session a failure. Not winning is fine, but when someone feels like they didn't even take part, its a failure. The using the two sets didn't seem to work all that well. Seems like it would have worked better to just use one set and play with people that knew that, and play a different game with Anne and Clare or done all pop culture and just have Wil officiate and someone play in his place. Maybe the game works fine in company that share the same amount of knowledge on the subject at hand, but in mixed company it looks like its a complete flop.

In her (or the game's) defense ...Wil takes up a lot of space, sort of. On most of their questions, he was all like "alright I got this", and rambled off all the answers he could think of - and THEN he looked to Clare in case she'd thought of anything he'd missed. If he'd let her answer first, maybe she would have contributed more. This is not a critique of Wil though, I love his (sometimes childlike) enthusiasm :)

The brilliance of this game is, imo, by adding a bidding mechanic they have created a trivia game that can be played by 2 players in a reasonable amount of time. Trivial Pursuit worked with 2 but the slog around the board hoping to land on a "pie space" you needed just took forever. The idea of combining the two sets for the show was a great idea. The regular Geek Out would not work for most of my family. Mixing the sets really makes the game more inclusive to the whole family. Sold.
