I’m still using this printer daily for my home/office and also for photos. It’s not too ridiculous in its ink consumption even though it does like to purge and clean itself as often as my ginger tomcat. Six inks helps a lot and there is plenty of choice of third party inks that work perfectly well with this machine. Writing this in April 2023.

Don't really use the cloud features but the photo quality of this scanner is definitely pretty decent. I was really surprised how good the output is on decent lustre or glossy paper. Amazing.

I have to agree that's a pretty fast printer Dave and the photo print was really good, it showed the depth of focus very clearly and gave it an almost 3D look. The scan and upload is a great feature too.

Hanno Reimer....I agree with you the cartridges aren't cheap but I use refillable cartridges on my Canon and saves me a bundle of money. My two Canon printers use that system and they are so easy to refill and the ink is as good as Canons if not better

Dave great video......it looks a fantastic printer. I have your older printer and it is great but it doesn't have print to the cloud like this one. Canon for me make great printers. Does this one print on DVDs / CDs? I see it doesn't appear to insert the paper from the top/ back like your last printer ...is that right?...I never used that feature

So I finally bought one because of your Review and I have to agree. This printer is awesome. Quality, speed and handling are perfect. Printing quality on standard paper is really good better than an Epson Photo XP-760 . Using glossy paper they are quite even.

Wow, great video. I just bought this printer used for $40 and without you I'd have been totally lost. My ancient i560 Canon printer needs a new print head and the $$'s for them is horrible. I won't use 90% of what this MG7520, in my case, printer can do but it will still be fun to see if I can get it to work with my Win7 desktop. I'm going with a USB connection. Natch no documents came with it so I'm relying on people like you to get me through the setup. The online manual for this guy is 1000+ pages--OUCH!! Cheers, Neill from Oregon, USA.

Thank you. I do art work, and wanted nothing with fax attached, and this is just what I am looking for, Just wish it also did 11x17...but, no worries. Does it also have larger ink capacity cartridges? That would help in ink consumption. I really like this, and have had others like Cannon. However, it can be hard to get the 'refill ink cartridges for cannons on this type. Darn!!! It is also nice to see they do not dry out so fast too! I hope, that is what I have read anyway. I picked up one of these (in white) from PC World for £130 which was a pretty damn good price for printing photo's and stuff. It's fantastic quality! Even on "normal" quality setting photo's look incredible. As a plus, you can print directly to it from Canon digital cameras that have WiFi without needing any kind of extra software.

Hi, thanks for your video. It seems the scan transport is quite slow in your example. As that depends on the selected DPI, could you tell at which resolution did you scan the second scan sent to your PC ? I'm acustomed to use a MP970. Sincerely

Hi, nice video. This is a very interesting video, Im in the process of purchasing a new printer, my previous one was a canon ip4500, but one day it stopped working. The thing i didn't like about it was whenever a colour ink cartridge ran out it would not print black until i replaced the empty colour cartridge. I have no idea if this is still the case with canon printers? Maybe you could answer that for me. The only other printer i am currently looking at is the HP Officejet Pro 8620, i like the idea of the high yield cartridges to keep costs down. I see you are using a macbook pro, are you using it with the latest operating system, yosemite? And have you come across any problems? Thanks

Thanks for the video! It was very helpful. I'm still having problems printing photos. I used 4x6 photo paper in tray 1 and had normal paper in tray 2. The photo printed on regular paper from tray 2 instead of the photo paper.

Thanks for the review. Can you use non OEM print cartridges in it? Are the levels showing up correctly, or the chips etc have to be swapped with the original cartridge ones as well for non OEM to work.

i am having problem with the direct scanning functionof my canon, as operation panel only show the local USB choice, it does not show my mac as an option . i am able to print and scan from my mac using the same wireless connection but unable to do so directly from operation panel of the machine.any suggestions???

Thanks for this, it made me decide to get one. But you failed to add that it has 2 paper trays underneath and it prints on printable cdroms and dvd's. No options for continuous ink systems as yet though.

+Amanda Riessen I am really not sure on this one, as I no longer have it. I am pretty sure that when one ink runs out it needs replacing for the printer to work in monochrome only.

Great review of this printer. After watching this review I fancy one of these now. I wonder how well it plays with Linux though. If I remember correctly Canon doesn't support Linux to the extent that Brother does - or has this maybe improved since I last looked at it? Thanks for any enlightenment on this. On another related topic - the Apple laptop that was used here. If it turns out that this printer won't play well with Linux, I might eventually go for a similar Apple laptop to the one used in the review. Does the OS need frequent updating - and is there good support from Apple for security updates etc? How about the stability of the Apple OS?

I have this printer and it won't turn on. I unplugged it to clear a jam. When I plugged it in only the triangle light came on and a little light over the on. Nothing comes up. I unplugged again and rebooted my router to no avail. Any ideas?

Edmund White I think it does!! I dcaned my kids shots and it separated them in squares so u set this option on ur pc scan together or to recognize different items... u set it to separate items or all together (im using a mac but should give u the options regardless

Hi, I have a gold model (MG 7780) bought and shipped from China. I have been asked by my friend to recommend an inexpensive model. He is happy to spend about 40 pounds, but I feel better printers start at about 70. Also, my printer has multiple cartridges which are designed to be refilled. The Canons I can see for these prices have two sealed cartridges - in China we used to drill holes in the top of them and fill them up. Do you feel these multiple cartridge printers offer a worthwhile performance advantage? Also, what printer do you feel has good durability over time and a good purchase / refilling cost balance?

It sounds like a driver error. Might be worth you uninstalling and re-installing the latest drivers. Dungeness is an awesome place to photograph.

Hi, does your printer print faint lines where the printhead overlaps? My prints have lines when i print photos on both normal and photo paper

No. This is due to print head alignment normally. There is a menu function for cleaning and aligning, it might help.

I did the manual alignment and several printhead cleanings. In the end I exchanged it for a different mg7720 which is now printing flawless photos.

I'm not sure if anyone has asked this, I didn't scroll through every comment, but I'm experiencing issues with the printer when printing directly from my iOS devices, specifically my iPhone 6+. I have it setup in a 3000 sq ft home, with a linksys router and range expander, and the room it's located in has full wireless signal. I have a Mac Mini setup in there as well with no wireless or connectivity issues. It doesn't have any issues when printing wirelessly from my Mac Mini, but when I use my iPhone it either says it can be found, or its offline, or it will only print one photo and not let me chose multiple pics. When it says it's unavailable or can't be found, I usually have to go back into the wireless settings, and chose my SSID & WPA passphrase. Then it will work for awhile again, and then continue to do the whole disappearing act again. This is only happening with my iPhone and I have tested it with multiple iOS devices, all with the same outcome. I'm considering a powerline adapter only bc I've tried everything else, but powerline adapters seem redundant in a room/house with full wireless signal. Have you read anything like this or ran into this issue? I'm in the USA and my model is the MG 7520. Any input or ideas would be appreciated. Cheers!
