My MK games ranked: 9. Super Mario Kart - Forgettable 8. Mario Kart Super Circuit - I don’t care for this one! 7. Mario Kart 64 - It’s cool but better MK titles! 6. Mario Kart Double Dash - Didn’t play too much of this! 5. Mario Kart Wii - just cuz it’s 5 that don’t mean I hate this, Wii is GOATED!! 4. Mario Kart Tour - This game had lots of new content and tracks and characters and I’ll always have respect for this game, all those memories will be good times, love you tour! 🫡 3. Mario Kart DS - Mario Kart DS is unbelievably nostalgic, the characters and everything were fun and mission mode was a blast! 2. 3:30 Super Mario Kart proves time and time again to be the most misunderstood entry in the series. The drifting is FAR from useless in this game. It's actually more like the modern Mario Kart's drifting, but under the Mode 7 style of racing, and with a twist : Instead of a short speed boost, you maintain a speed increase until you screw up. When you approach your turn, jump holding L/R and hold it. You're going to direct your steering INWARD with the control pad ( in the direction you wish to turn). Once you straighten your kart out, your speed will begin to increase drastically. This will boost your momentum, and stick with you until your speed drops for any reason. You'll notice your engine's sound will begin to shift to a higher pitch? That's how you know you've drifted properly. No, there are no miniturbos or graphical effects like the modern games. Those are nice to have, but there are plenty of indicators this game uses to cue you in on a successful drift. It's a gradual speed increase, and makes SMK among the most skill-intesive, momentum-based entries in the series. Templar Animated, Szyl, and Shadowgamer0907 all have wonderful videos detailing how it works so that this magnificent game can be better understood. There is also an active competitive scene, as well as a link to their Discord on SMK Championship's website with a wealth of resources for this entry in some of their videos' descriptions.

I have posted a similar explanation so many times and keep getting dismayed that people under estimate the original game. It’s still my favourite game in the series. Drifting in this game requires way more skill and it’s so much fun. It should still be ranked near the top not the bottom

Agree! From my comment: I love Super Mario Karts drift mechanics over the others. It really requires skill to be good at, moreso than the others. Slides with Koopa Troopa are SO FUN. For me, it's faster-paced too. Plus you get the funky map at the bottom with cool character animations, and badass sound effects when people get hit by shells. The cherry on top is no blue shells.

3:40 That’s because AI don’t get random items. Mario and Luigi only get stars for example. They couldn’t program items for AI for the SNES due to limitations

Mario Kart DS turned me to a beast the only reason I was a god at Wii was because of that game. They never brought back the crazy drift system from DS either. Edit: Haha he brought up the snaking. I loved that part, the game basically became who can snake better, but I liked the raw challenge of it.

Great list! In my perosjal list, it is almost exactly the same except with a two changes. For me, I flip 64 and DS around to have DS be better and I also have double dash and Wii switch places. Oddly enough this isn’t impacted by nostalgia at all. For a while, wii was the only one I played but I just genuinely liked double dahs, 7, and 8 better.

Mario Kart DS implemented the most unique features customisations it was a first for a lot of features still used today. I feel it's top 3 Mario Kart game overall easily

Personally, I loved MKDD's handling. It had a feeling similar to MKWii's automatic drifting but allowed you to do either a tighter or MUUUUCH wider drift and get a quick boost out of it. It's the one I felt had the best handling followed by MKWii and then MK8

yeah, for me mkdd has the best drifting mechanic it is so easy to drift and to master. But handling wise, when you're trying to make a turn without drifting, can be frustrating. Most of the time I'm always drifting/snaking when I'm racing around the tracks.

The online for 7 isint going down for like atleast a year minimum. It's only the eshop shutting down. Plus even if it shuts down the community is ready at a moments notice to set up custom servers for MK7 just like Mario Kart Wii. And on that note all it takes is 5 minutes to change your dns and you can use wiimmfi to play mario kart wii online again and there are over 100 people active at almost all times

8.Super mario kart (bad controls, winning is basically luck based due to rubberbanding, and tracks are boring) 7. Mario kart 64 (Same issues as before but controls and track design are better) 6. Mario kart super circut (First game where the controls feel good) 5. Mario kart ds (Theres only like 7 good tracks and mission mode is the only thing that puts it above super circut) 4. Mario kart double dash!! (The two person per kart mechanic is really cool and I like the special items as well) 3. Mario kart 7 (Super fun tracks, pretty well balanced and has some of the best retro tracks) 2. Mario kart wii (Super great and memorable nitro tracks, and its very chaotic which I like a lot about this game) 1. Mario kart 8 deluxe (Most content we've gotten from any mario kart game with 95 tracks and toad circut)

Worst to best for me: Super Super Circuit 64 DS 7 Double Dash Wii 8 Mario Kart is one of those series that really does tend to get better with each entry. As you can see, I rank the regular console entries progressively higher than the last. Same with the handheld entries. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is not only the best Mario Kart game, by far, but it's also one of my favorite video games of all-time.

a really good ranking video, as I respect your opinion, though i think Mario Kart DS is tbh one of the best mario kart games, as it has some ot the best content that wouldn't come back for any other future mario kart game (like mission mode) and the fact it's really the strongest singleplayer mario kart game. I would honestly love a story mode in Mario Kart 9, like Banjo Pilot, or CTR though

No offense but an accurate List can only be give by people who were around in 92 when the first one came out and still play the newer Games. As they are the only ones who can assess how big, gamechanging and innovative the game was for its time. Some absolute Bangers like Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart 64 have no business being this low considering how far ahead both were

I missed out on double dash and 7 as to not having a GameCube or a 3ds. As a massive Mario kart fan I really need to play them lol, as for all other releases I have physical carts/discs. Very well put together video dude

Double dash is the best in the series by far. I was a massive fan of Mario kart when I had double dash. I tried wii mario kart and it seemed to have lost its kart in mario kart. Double dash also had great coop and quite a large skill gap because the backseat player could punch left and right getting you out of sticky situations and it felt great.

LOL this list is backwards, if you like a real skilled race sim feeling and not just a eye candy gimmick that plays the game for you. Mario Kart 8 is pure trash! Super Mario Kart is by far the best. They just trying to make that money $$$$ bling bling after Super Mario Kart, they just made eye candy flash gimmick Mario Kart's to sell copies to dumb kids that see the flashy graphics and think its good like a fish on a shinny bait food.

My folks used to complain about 3d graphics making them ill, and now years later I can't help but think Marokart Deluxe necessitates a seizure warning. Whether growing old or just a generational thing, factually there's more happening on the screen now then ever. How a young person acclimatizes to such a lightshow is beyond me.

I haven't played MK DS, 7, or Double Dash, but otherwise have played all the other Mario Kart games and would say this Ranking is very well done! This is how I would have done it, I would say DS deserves a higher spot though: 7: Tour 6: Super MK 5: MK Super Circuit 4: MK 64 3: MK 8 2: MK Wii 1: MK 8D

I may be part of the minority. But I hate the “make your own kart” feature. It always results in the same combinations anyway, the combos are ugly, and it feels mediocre. I prefer everyone having the same choices per weight class, but in their own signature colors like Wii.

I think you're right to put SMK at the bottom of the list. Laid the foundation for the series, but doesn't hold up. Similar to SMB on a mainline Mario platformer list.

Hell nah, gameplay wise, Mario kart DS is the best of all time, you have a total control of the kart and you have to prove your skills for real Starting from Wii it seems to racing on boundaries, and it feels there's a sort of auto help following the track

@@freebird97hdtheres many problems I have with this game, the controls are terrible, none of the tracks are memorable, and winning feels luck based at times due to the rubber banding. This is coming from someone who has beaten the whole game and it felt like a chore to play.

I only played two of the eight Super Mario games Super Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario Kart 8 Ultimate I did not like Super Mario Kart 7 I love Super Mario Kart 8 Ultimate

Welp, out the gate you have shown you've completely misunderstood the OG. You don't understand the AI and you don't understand the power slide. So that makes it the worst game on console as it has dated graphics and you failed to grasp the concepts. I can not accept this as an unbiased review.

Mario Kart Wii is my favorite Mario kart you put it second not bad man it beats 8 though it had amazing tracks,music,character selection amazing and more but 8 is great too I can agree but my favorite is Wii I grew up with it as well😁👍🏼

Mariokart 8 feels empty and bland compared to Wii. It is made with babies in mind and I am not even very good.

Nahhh idk wii is better than mario kart 8 and i asked my 8 year old cousin and het thought the same well ig i dont have the dlc on mario kart 8 but i also dont have all courses on mario kart wii.
