@@GeekyNerdyTechyit’s @itsdjbuddha - this time using my actual KZbin channel to reply 😂🤦🏾♂️ On my channel I found myself doing a multicam with a GH5 MKII and an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Then shooting my b-roll with the GH5 MK II The issues this may solve: - using Filmic Pro on the phone is OK, but it’s still a phone and it can’t do constant frame rates which seems to be a hardware limitation. So re-transcoding that footage was annoying (to match up frame rates for the Multicam to keep sync) - Product shots with the GH5 MK II are great but the lack of usable autofocus made it a non-starter for lots of things. And doing a talking head video with products was a challenge. Ideally I’d love to buy the new camera and eventually sell the mark II to get a second one so I can have 2 of the same camera for shooting. I have a question though, another reviewer pointed out that when connected via HDMI you lose autofocus control or you lose phase shift (I’ll try to find the link for reference) if this is true, does it also apply to app control? Sounds like a processor limitation, hopefully you can elaborate. Great stuff again, love your videos, been subbed on both accounts!

For other stuff like product showcase unboxings you might want to set up a one area mode :) If you're using the S Series lenes, the AF is fantastic.

Thanks for the effort you've put into this. A point that came up recently on other channels: Can you confirm that for 1080p, full frame, and frame rates above 30 fps, the camera uses the "old" contrast DFD, and not PDAF? The explanation I've seen is that for full frame read-out and higher frame rates, lines and pixels are skipped, causing phase-detect pixels to be missed as well.

I appreciated this video. One thing I'm having trouble with as I've just bought the S5ii but it seems to be on a setting where what's in the viewfinder during M mode, does not match the final photo. I set up some lovely shots, only to have the final shots overexposed, or so underexposed I just had a totally black image (yes, the lens cap was off). What setting makes what you see is what you get? Also, please remind me how to get rid of that silly PIP while focussing. I changed the setting in two places, but it's still happening.

Great preaentation! Thx! As I see the max write speed of S5ii is 200Mbps. Can a V60 card offer more than the V30?
@GeekyNerdyTechy Жыл бұрын
Yes it can, but double check the write speeds of the brands you are looking at. I use Silicon Power cards and their V90 cards are pretty inexpensive now considering.

If Panasonic ever releases a GH6 version with PDAF, would you happen to know if the Leica 25-50mm F1.7 would work with the PDAF system?
@GeekyNerdyTechy2 жыл бұрын
100%. It works with the PDAF on the Olympus cameras just fine.

can you tap to focus i wanna do a shot where i tap behind the subject to show a tiger coming from afar without moving the position of the subject
@GeekyNerdyTechy Жыл бұрын
Yes you can in autofocus one area mode. In manual focus you need to move the focus point and hit the AF button on the back to switch focus points. The autofocus way is the easiest.

@GeekyNerdyTechy thanks. Like basically I got a guy eating in the middle. And behind him a tiger is approaching. But I wanna tap the tiger to basically blur him out. And have the focus on the tiger. Type thing. If it makes sense. I'm really interested in the camera 👍

Does focus ring control only work with Panasonic lenses or with Sigma L mount or manual focus lenses as well?
@GeekyNerdyTechy6 ай бұрын
I haven't tested it with Sigma lenses sorry mate. I think it could be with the Panasonic lenses only.

Just Pre ordered it! I knew they were giving the S5 a $500 discount for a reason lol. Glad I'm getting the big upgrade! Thanks for the review and the tutorial. Super helpful. Edit: Does your rig fit on the slightly thicker body?

I need to test the cage I have but I think it’ll be a bit too small now given the slightly different dimensions. I’ll test it out when I get back home in a few days time.

Hi Shane, I have a couple of questions about the camera that I can't seem to find an answer for: When using the live lut, say a color space transform from v-log to s-log3, can I still use some kind of rec709 conversion in camera? (Even if it's the v-log view assist). The reason being, I want to bake in the log transform and still look at a corrected picture in camera. Also, while using an apsc lens what formats get greyed out? Can I still use any of the VFR modes? Thank you so much for all the info

I want great image for video and also I want convenience and future proof at the same time.. I am very new and have not invested in any camera brand but want to go either with Lumix or Sony... If you were me what would you choose and why??
@GeekyNerdyTechy Жыл бұрын
If you want the best value camera the S5II is the way to go. If you want a more affordable lens lineup the FX30 (APSC) is a great choice. That lens lineup will come at the expense of some features, and more in other areas. I recently posted a video of the FX30 and you can find out if it will suit your needs better than this.
