No, it’s because you need to feel the Cush inside and make sure the tire goes between it and the wheel, plus you need big pull force produced by friction in order to mount the tire and gloves would just slide off or the tips get stuck between the tire and wheel.

This is the Sniper T, 2021 Model frame. The rear triangle for the "T" was updated starting on the 2020 models.

The slx has a deferent release mechanism so it could just be personal preference. And shifters are light in general
