It’s kind of funny to think that nearly every world that was instrumental in saving the Old Republic thousands of years ago; i.e. Dantooine, Onderon, and of course Telos IV all ended up siding with the CIS. Adding even more irony, the end of the Clone Wars also marked the end of the Old Republic.
@inductivegrunt94 Жыл бұрын
It was a different Republic back then. The Old Republic cared when the modern Republic did not. I just hope that Telos survived the Empire and restored itself once more after finally being free. It's a sad story the Planet of Telos, but not one without hope. They've rebuilt before, they can do it again. I have confidence in that. The people are hardy and resilient, they will endure. That is how Telos will survive.

The video kind of tells a different story. Personally, it seems more likely the reason for Telos joining the Separatists was the corporate interests. According to Wookiepedia, the corporations on Telos became the new rulers after that dark Jedi was defeated. I do have to wonder if the Separatist military took advantage of violent turn their culture took. Judging by Legends, I guess the Telosians were celebrating at first when the Republic drove off Separatists, especially if Obi-Wan was leading the charge. Just like Mimban, Ryloth, Christophsis, Kashyyk, and plenty of other planets. And then the Republic becomes the Empire either days or hours before the war ends. People in both the Legends and Canon galaxies must have felt cheated when they realized the Empire was worse than the CIS by miles.

@@Otterdisappointment I’ll admit that I wouldn’t blame most planets for going down that route. Ryloth did after all. Of course, then come the negatives of having to live in a divided galaxy. The potential for war is higher as nobody is bound to solving all their issues peacefully and economic and social differences are just going to grow greater than they did under a galactic government. Sure, some planets will join alliances that may at most include their entire sector, but you could still get into a conflict with another sector. Still as much as I am on the side of the galaxy being united under one government, I doubt these issues will get so bad the people will want to create a galactic alliance or galactic government after a few generations. Unless of course there is a massive galactic event where the disunity of the galaxy nearly leads to its destruction.

It was most likely the corporate elements that forced Telos to join the CIS, like they did for several other worlds, after how much the Republic did for them in the past, as well as the Jedi trying to help them deal with the troubles on their planet it's hard to believe they would willingly suceed.

Whenever I found an opportunity, I will always asked it: Is the single gaalctic government like the Republic no more a good thing? I'm not saying the Empire that came after it is better or anything. It's just that the Republic itself is too big to govern. In my view, the Republic should remained just at the Core Worlds while the rest of the galaxy developed their own nation states.

I mean it’s not like the Jedi didn’t ensured peace for thousands of years before at the prequels? In Canon the Republics Golden Age of peace and prosperity was a result of the Jedis aid during the High Republic. Its was not even a matter of the Jedi being overtly different during the High Republic either considering that Yoda, Oppo Rancisis, Yaddle, Yareal Poof, and Tera Sinube were all Masters/Council Members during the time period. The senates the one who dropped the ball more then the Jedi.

I personally do believe Telos would return to the New Republic and they would aim stronger than ever to restore their world to the one it was before and seek to keep it that way, one of natural beauty and without corporations while aiming to restore certain other things like the Sacred Places as best as possible. Given how long and strongly Telos stood without the usual stuff worlds struggle to live without such as industrialism, I doubt they’d let themselves give in, too. With that in mind, Telos definitely stood as something, not just due to what they had, but also what they lacked, and they prospered anyway. Speaking of Telos, I think it’s possible their mysterious famine, occurring on a literal farming world that headquartered the Jedi Order’s Agricultural Corp, was brought upon by Sith influence. I doubt the Banite Sith would ignore such an important Republic world with such an impactful history, so a plan was formed to ruin the world and corrupt his governments to give a blow to the Republic, causing a rift to form between them. Sidious would surely hate Telos for everything that it is and for that would continue to punish it and its people.

@@michaelandreipalon359 Hard to oppose when you're planet is owned by them, meaning they control everything including food shipments. Opposing Ideals are nice, but they don't put food on the table. Heck, if the Republic didn't invade and recapture Umbara as soon as they did, then Kashyyyk probably would have had to succeed, either by force or by choice because they would have been completely surrounded on all sides and cut off from the Republic and any shipments or aid, and I wouldn't have blamed the Wookies if they did. Now if they still remained with the CIS after some planet around them had been conquered or liberated, thus opening them back up with trade with the Republic then I would have blamed them since at that point the Republic could actually get to them to help and they still choose the CIS.
@tristankawatsuma8962 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelandreipalon359 Okay, the clones are my favorite characters and I’m on the side of the Republic, but come on dude. Even the average diehard Separatist who wasn’t from a militaristic society or profited from the corporations didn’t know the truth about Dooku or what the CIS was actually meant to do. Dooku controlled the Shadowfeed and they wouldn’t listen to the Holonet about CIS war crimes because most people don’t trust the media of their enemy, especially if it’s nationalized. And even if they did know the truth, I wouldn’t blame them if they were very hesitant. I mean, they would have to fight the Droid armies and navies. And most Separatist worlds are Outer Rim planets low on infrastructure and thus defense forces. It’s why I like to separate the Separatist Senate and citizens from the rest of the CIS. In my minds, they were just used to mask the evil of the CIS with their real criticism of the Republic and also a means to fund the Separatist war machine. I mean, we all separate the Republic Senate, Military, and civilian population from Palpatine because we know he manipulated them all to serve him when the Empire came to power.
