I see that this recording was at least one year ago, but that Deacon needs to LISTEN to what is being said. He MAKES THE ASSUMPTION that the wife is going to speak to someone who is not of a JUST CHARACTER (i.e., that is, someone who is UNJUST), is not of a good character, someone who HE THINKS is not impartial enough to listen to the wife and NOT TAKE SIDES WITH HER simply because the wife is her friend, or her daughter, or her sister, cousin, auntie...(you name it!!). As a woman...Don't speak for me, or make assumptions about my ability to make a decision to seek out someone, OR THAT GOD WILL LEAD ME TO THE RIGHT PERSON TO HELP ME in looking at whatever the situation is, so that I can not only see my husband in the situation, but also SEE MYSELF...WHEREVER I am in it. It's very closed-minded and misogynistic in tone to make many of the kinds of statements and assertions that he was making in this conversation, that were quite offensive, and frankly very off-putting. The question on the table was not to say that the husband is being "put down" in any way because there is or was a disagreement in the home, but it merely brought attention to A VERY REAL SITUATION AND CONCERNS THAT MANY WOMEN DEAL WITH ON A DAILY BASIS, AND DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT!!! Even the way in which he emphasized that the wife is to honor him, and he is to love her...and that the wife should be coming to him to resolve whatever the matter is...and that nobody can understand him but him... WHAT???!!! Well, if he's got that much in control, then there shouldn't be ANY ISSUES IN HIS HOME...OR BETWEEN HIM AND HIS WIFE!!! Clearly, by the context and tone of his comments on the issue, he would truly be the problem in his own household. Just because the husband is the head of the household does not eliminate, snuff out, muzzle, discredit, disregard, disrespect, or discount the VOICE OF HIS WIFE!!! Unfortunately, (but fortunately for some viewing this clip), his demeanor and posture on the subject is quite revealing about how some men view the wife's position in the marriage, and how he thinks she ought to respond to situations that have metastasized into matters that require attention and/or guidance from someone who has the faithful and trusted discernment to help guide that situation to an amicable resolve. His language in many ways was offensive to me, and I believe even to the women on the panel (and the First Lady herself). It came off as controlling, domineering, strict disapproval of how the wife would (or should...in his opinion) address the situation outside of her home. As if she is not or would not be mature, capable, and godly enough to seek God for an answer without her "being messy" or out of line in her approach. It's sad to say (and see) that some men feel and act this way towards women, or their wives in the handling of situations that, YES...SOMETIMES NEED AN OUTSIDE INTERVENTION, OR A NEUTRAL - BUT RIGHTEOUSLY AUTHORITATIVE - VOICE. Did he just forget that sometimes GOD USES PEOPLE (sometimes ones we don't even know personally or at all) TO SPEAK INTO OUR LIVES... In the scripture, King David had a situation in his home. In fact, HE CREATED THE SITUATION, and then without any repentance he kept going about dealing with it THE WRONG WAY. Until one day God, in His immanent mercy, sent the prophet Nathan to him, to SHOW HIM HIMSELF...SO THAT HE COULD GET IT FIXED WITH GOD...SO THAT HE COULD MOVE FORWARD IN AND WITH LIFE!!! We can't give God just anything that we think is okay...like here God, this is what happened and this is how I'm dealing with it or have dealt with it, and you go on and be good with that and bless me... WHAT???!!! Well, not so. WRONG IS WRONG...PERIOD!!! That scenario with King David applies to men AND women...essentially showing and admonishing us that you have to be honest with yourself (and with others); because what you do can affect everybody in your household. What is the problem/issue? What is my part in it? How do I get it fixed? No. 1 - Be WILLING to listen to the other person. No. 2 - Get out of your ego (your flesh) so that both sides can come together and reason out the matter...JUSTLY. No. 3 - Let TRUE REPENTANCE BE EXPRESSED, by one or both parties, (i.e., SPOKEN...ask the person you've offended to forgive you...for whatever the situation is); and Let TRUE ACCEPTANCE OF THAT REPENTANCE GO FORTH. My father, my mother, my grandmother, and my late pastor - taught and instilled in me, that IF YOU DO IT RIGHT...IT WILL ALWAYS COME OUT RIGHT. We can't give God just ANYTHING and think that it's going to be alright with Him, or that it's going to be accepted. God created us in His image, and it works the same way with us. You can't just do things to people, cause situations, or not be godly enough to know how to quell situations...peaceably. Listening to that Deacon, you would have thought, "what is directing him that he cannot bring peace to a situation" in his home, and that he can't seem to demonstrate enough patience that he wouldn't even consider allowing or entertaining the thought that his wife would speak to someone outside their home - in confidence - to help bring a peaceful resolution to whatever they were experiencing. SMH...

I got triggered by Superintendent Adams's words because that's how it was with someone I know. So he’s saying nobody, even the Pastor or the First Lady, should know about what is going on in the marriage, and it has come to that point where they can no longer communicate, but you want to make it worse… 🤦🏾♀️. For your wife to not seek wise counsel is controlling. And for him to say He needs to be there when she speaks to them, he will also maintain the narrative, showing proof of the situation of not being heard.
