I think I am going to get an art journal like this, it will be my goal for 2018 to fill it all up. I really love the voice overs that you just walk us through how you did it, it's very helpful.

Beautiful page. When you said you don't have olive green paint my brain kept screaming Mix it! Try adding a bit of red or magenta to a yellow toned green. When you mix the color wheel compliment -opposites on color wheel - you can get very interesting tones as long as one color is predominantly used. If they are close to equal in amount, then you get very neutral or muddy color.
@WindyIris7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip - I didn't mix the olive green because I didn't have my paints out. I wanted to stick to the inks and gelatos😀 I like to use inks in my journal more than paints anyway🎨

Hi windy great video I love your channel and also would you mind telling what is the different between a art journal and sketchbook
@WindyIris6 жыл бұрын
Hi, There's no real definition. Art journals are usually often places for expression and reflection - people may express their feelings with mixed media art, or drawing. Then again a sketchbook can be used for that as well. I think both are places you create art. A sketchbook may be more for sketches and an art journal for finished work or the other way round. . . I think you could define it however you like. There's not right or wrong answer. I personally use my art journal for mixed media creations and for exploring different supplies. I use my sketchbook for sketches, studies and working with markers. Sorry not to be of more help:)

I know I already commented but I have a question, what brand of fineliners would be good, or what would you suggest?
@WindyIris7 жыл бұрын
The Steadtler triplus fineliners are my favourites but they can be more pricy and don't have that many different colours avaible - Arteza has packs of fineliners, they are very nice as well and the largest tin has 72 colours. Some of the colours are similar but if you want a wide selection I think they are a good option☺

It's beautiful and I loved looking at the results....but ...I guess this is complete ignorance on my part...but why do something like that in a journal? It's so pretty. Why not do it on loose leaf paper and then if you wanted to make something else out of it...a framed print or a card or something you could. In a journal you can't really do anything with it. Sorry if I am missing the point.
@WindyIris7 жыл бұрын
It's just a matter of personal preference. I like to work in a journal (and actually this journal can lay flat, so I have already scanned the page and I could make prints if I wanted). I do sometimes create layered collage illustrations, but I like to test out techniques and ideas in my journal first, just to see how which things will work😊
@KitarraChaosWeaver7 жыл бұрын
Oh! Ok so sort of a sketchbook for working on collages? That makes much more sense. Thank you!

okay you keep mentioning art journaling and I am struggling to find a good video on it please explain
@WindyIris7 жыл бұрын
Art journaling is a fluid term and basically I see it as a way to express yourself through art. Instead of journaling (i.e. writing) down your thoughts or feelings in a book, the idea is to express them in pictures, colors and so on. People use art journaling to express themselves and their feelings. Everyone will feel differently about art journaling and offer different explanations but I think that's a broad explanation. Also art journaling tends in the main to be more focused on mixed media (you'll often find inks, paints, stamps etc used together) than a general sketchbook might. But again it's s fluid term, there's no right or wrong way to keep an art journal or a sketchbook. There is often overlap between the two and they are both for expressing creativity. I think that's about it - sorry for the long explanation. I've done by best to explain how I see it but I'm sure there will be other points of view. Hope this all made sense and thanks for watching😀
