that sir is as stipple brush, used for stencil and silk screening! I have an idea, which you can funk off or try, but I would definitely experiment with the idea! Try using a posca pen with small tip for the details. I have had great success with such, after the pen work is dry add your paint. Bravo on your work as always, thanks, Have been watching your videos over and over!

Thanks. I’ve worked and experimented with posca pens a lot but these details on this image are far too small to be able to achieve anything close with a posca pen even using the smallest 1M nib!

Hey Mark, I‘d like to share with you the knowledge of a wonderful brush: the Peter Woolley brush! It is actually named after the British watercolor artist (on KZbin too), and I’ve had the pleasure to attend a watercolor painting course in England by him last year. This brush can be used for stencils, but initially it was thought to be a special brush for Bokeh and other watercolor effects. Peter is almost embarrassed that it was named after him, but of course I had to get one. …. Mark, please Keep on doing your great innovative art and exploring the gel plate. Love your channel! I also made some videos since March this year, maybe you‘d want to have a look? Cheers from Berlin, Tina

Thanks Robert. I intend to keep making content yes, and I also know what you mean about there not being a huge pool of resources other than Mr Yeates which was really the only channel that I found of much interest on KZbin when I first started to investigate the gel plate, hence the reason I thought of making my own channel.

I use this method its excellent. you could transfer it to the gel plate, the laser print that is with gel medium. then onto the painting to get a better registration. I love your illustration style its quality. Ive tried this technique with a colour laser print and it works really well.
@gelwithmark
@gelwithmark Жыл бұрын
Thanks. How do you get the laserjet print to transfer to the gel plate??, do you mean from normal copy paper? I tried adding gel medium to my plate and then placing the laserjet image on the sticker backing paper on top but the medium wouldnt dry and just remained wet and I couldn't get a transfer.
@stevemead4021
@stevemead4021 Жыл бұрын
@@gelwithmark thinking about it you could just print these onto acetate. Laser Printer Acetate Film remember the stuff teachers used to use on school projectors. You'll then be able to register that pretty easily. Transfer it the same way using gel medium. Although I haven't tried this it will work the same.

Thanks for sharing this technique. Am I right in seeing that in the final step it’s the laser printer ink that’s actually being transferred onto the painted image, and not actual paint, as is the case with the original laser copy/resist technique that so few people can get to work?
@gelwithmark
@gelwithmark Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes you are correct, I was just trying to find a way to get the image to transfer that was close to the look of the paint way. I know it’s not quite the same, but it’s an option.

As an alternative to the sticker backing paper, has anyone tried printing on the shiny side of freezer paper? I'm curious if the laser toner prints well enough on it. If it works, it might be less expensive. (And also doesn't create an unwanted sticker to use up somewhere else.) I use freezer paper as a disposable acrylic paint palette, so know the acrylic will peel of no problem when it's dry.
@gelwithmark
@gelwithmark Жыл бұрын
I think you will have to secure it with tape or something to normal copy paper to get it through your printer due to its flimsy nature, Ive tired experimenting with a heat transfer paper which is a similar weight as freezer paper but it doesnt seem to go through my printer with much success even when taping it down.
@tonybounsall214
@tonybounsall214 10 ай бұрын
DON”T put freezer paper through a laser printer the heat will fuse it to the transport roller!!! Try using baking parchment or silicone release paper.
