Gelli Printing on Photo Paper

I stumbled upon printing on photo paper when I was playing with painting on my gelli plate, and I thought the results were pretty cool. I've got stacks of old photo paper that I haven't used, so this seemed like a fun way to use them!

Just FYI. Directions for the Geli plates specifically say to NOT use photo paper. It can stick to the plate and ruin the plates finish.

Also works really well with spray inks if you don't mind splotches of color (instead of having control) -- thanks!

I used the glossy side of photo paper and it ruined my gelli plate. this is a video around telling you not to put classy side down so this is confusing because when you do image transfer they put glossy side down so now not sure, have you had any problems with the glossy side I noticed on of them stuck? Love the video thanks

Cheryl Hudson thanks for watching and commenting. I don't think it ruined my gelli plate. Maybe it just depends on your climate and the type of paint you use? Beats me! I was just playing and experimenting. Can't say I made it a regular thing to gelli print on photo paper. I did like the effect though. :)

I did one and could hardly get the thing to separate so thought maybe I had left it on too long so turned the hello plate over and for as long, same thing now I can see marks in the hello plate and the paint is blotchy I have washed it many times with soap and water soap wash and alcohol rub doesn’t make any difference. When I saw yours were the same I thought I should mention it. Thanks for responding😃

Very cool. I had some photo paper in my hands at a thrift shop yesterday and I didn't pick it up. Oh well next time I see it I know what I can do with it. Great video! Thanks for sharing.

Great to know you can do this with the photo paper! I just came across loads of it in my crafting supplies that I have been keeping for many years. The first few you did looked almost like planets. Would make great Earth Day cards. Several that you did looked like very cool flowers. Thanks for sharing and giving me an idea what to use my horde of photo paper with now. :)

Pretty prints and a great idea! (I love that you told yourself to stop - lol) what would you / did you do with these prints?

Debbie's Journals thanks! You could adhere them to a card and maybe take a bold greeting stamp in black on top or if you have good penmanship you could write a greeting on top. Or you could cut them out and make some pretty painted flowers. Thanks for watching!
