A couple of years ago, I went to a place that sells wallpaper and asked if they had any books of wallpaper samples they have “retired”. They had a whole shelf in the back and let me take the ones I wanted (I took 3 or 4)… no charge! Lots of fun using for different things!

Oh wow, Froyle... This has to be one of your best videos yet - at least of the ones I've managed to watch so far! I simply love it. I have 2 books of wallpaper samples knocking around in my studio that have been there for years and never used - I was never sure what to do with them and then they just became part of the background STUFF in there! Time to dust them off and have a look. At present I am designing new stencils on Inkscape and will be putting them on my OneDrive once they have been tested. It takes ages and I want to start using them! I also bit the bullet last week and ordered myself a proper gel plate - my el cheapo one wasn't any good, and I can't believe how good the new one is - at least 3 times as thick, and really squishy. I've made a few background pieces so far but as yet, not done any layering or texture stuff on them. You are such an inspiration and without watching you I doubt if I'd have tried gel printing again!

Gorgeous! I love your idea of the homemade texture plates and I think I will have to give that a go, cause I have lots of stencils I can play with. A girlfriend and I have been playing with our gelli-plates. She used real leaves out of her garden as a "mask" and I used embossed silk sunflowers as a mask to get textures to print off. I was wondering if you have used mulberry paper. That's the closest I can think of to your Japanese paper that I have available here.

Love your collages and teaching style! Thank you so much for the wallpaper idea! I can’t wait to try this! One thing I’m having trouble is getting all the paint to come off my gelli plate - is there a trick? I’m getting leftover paint stuck each and every time I pull a print and no matter what I do.

Sometimes this looks good! 😄 but not if you do t want it! I find white tissue pulls off a lot of paint & then if I want my plate clean I use a baby wipe 👍🏼 that works well 😄😘

I’ve had success using packing tape to lift off really stubborn paint.
