It's shame that between High Elves that are supposed masters of magic (with High Magic) and Cathayans who are also able to expertly use the winds thanks to the dragons (see their half-combos for High Magic: Yin and Yang), it's the lowly humans (that Teclis had to teach in the first place), that are the strongest :/

I like how the specific thrust of gelts faction seems to be massed wizard usage. Even if you don't go for a full stack, it seems like it could be super worth it having 3 or 4 wizards in a single army. The idea that the collages of magic represents the power that the empire can bring to the field using entire groups of battle wizards working in unison is really cool, and I think does a good job to explain why these features are so much more powerful then slaan or high elf magical effects (which tend to very much focus on single powerful caster leaders).

Its even better when you consider the landmark Gelt gets in his first settlement: the Temple of the Four Winds, which gives all your wizards elemental mastery.

@@draugr121 In lore I'm certain he is much lower down than 3rd, in game he is currently 3rd. When the updates come out he will probably be 2nd, after Teclis (who is very op). That being said his faction mechanics will be much better, if you like wizards (I do).

These mechanics look really well done. Having 200% intensity and some cataclysm spells will be surely fun. How can the Slann or High elves top this? Looks like the Empire have become the strongest magical faction!

Bit of an off topic, but ever since I saw the golden covered ror Landship, I am pondering how hard would that be to reskin and make into a mount for Balthasar Gelt. I even tought out a lore reason, It would be the (heavily modifed) ship in which he misteriusly arrived into the empire.

Even before this patch, i love putting many wizards in gelts army. I take many of one wizard type so i can continuosly keep up a particular spell effect. Flock of doom is great like this.

5 grey wizards for +100% ambush chance, a jade for healing, celestals for campaign movement range, bright wizard to blow down walls so no need for siege equipment. 10 amythyst wizards vs factions that heavily rely on healing such as nurgle or undead to just laugh at them.

Gelt right next to Zhao? Oooooohhhh, Ghorst's start will be delightfully devilish and and he'll get two armor perks for his army right from the get go, make his zombies even tougher to kill! Yes! I like that change! He'll be eating fine! The AI is deader than dead. But for a player, that's a wonderful feast! Snikch players too will delight.

Just get one of each , and then just beast wizards for the Griffen mounts . Wizard stack that can reset movement and ambush.

Pretty sure there’s some kind of infinite WoM thing u could do with death wizards, spirit leech, and Yuan Bo’s defeat trait. And that item that gives -2 WoM cost to it.

Not really necessary with Gelt 19 Wizard stack. Mainly need more regen - can you get faster than 1 wind per second or is it capped?

That amulet of refraction... If I understand it correctly it makes the wearer completely immune to missiles and whats more it redirects them back to the unit that fired? I can imagine insane cheese with that one if thats the case. Imagine the wizard on pegasus just howering above enemy army. ;)

Regarding winds of magic reserves: You missed the largest factor: Apprentice wizards that add +15. Or were they removed in this latest patch?

Good call! They are still in the game. But Hedge wizards give +8 and you get a LOT of them. I had every wizard equipped with one. The Apprentice wizards only have a 4% drop rate and only for the main lord, so you don't get many in the campaign. They are great, but 1-2 of them per army will not give as much as 20 x Hedge wizards.

Is the damage of final transmutation got nerfed? IIRC it's 66~133 dmg/s, but 12:27 said it's 33~66 (up to 16~33), which looks really not good even considering some lowered-WoM cost.

You may have answered this question somewhere, but with the Amber Wizard, Kettle's Call doesn't have a tag for the summoned unit decaying, so does that mean that the spawned unit can fight throughout the entire battle?

@@MercytheMad Well, at least as far as the version which you used to make this is concerned, it only specifies that the "summoned unit can only be used during this battle", not that it decays over time, which is usually specified with other summons. So either a minor error on CA's part with a missing description tag, or it doesn't decay. Obviously the second would be just an amazing buff to Amber wizards.

Depends what you mean - Karl has more variety can make lots of different units and combinations work. If you want a never-ending cataclysm of spells just obliterating everything on the map in seconds, then that would be Gelt's Wizard stack

@@MercytheMad I am looking at what would give me the strongest end game army and the most legendary items. Gelt cant get the elector count items to my knowledge but, Franz can't get gelts new arcane items.

Considering that the return to the empire dilemma is activated the moment that you kill the Burning nomads factions, does that mean that you could potentially sell all your territory in Cathay before capturing their last settlement for even bigger profits?

It's difficult to sell to Iron Dragon because of the placement of the regions, but you could sell to the Wood Elves or someone.

Life leech gives 2.5 winds back every cast. You just have to reduce the casting cost of the spell below 2.5

This is totally incorrect, your much better off having 1-2 wizards in each army and more army stacks. The more stacks you have the more scrips you get.

You mean if you split your forces and attack on multiple different fronts? I think that's more something you would do later in the game, not right from turn 1. At the start you are only going to be attacking at most one settlement per turn so best to have as many wizards as possible in the army if you want to maximise Essays. If later you want to make 10 stacks with 2 wizard in each or whatever then that's fine - but I just did the Gotrek Quest battle and got 1500 essays with 18 wizards

Seems the updates are a power scale increase again. The mechanics look fun but empire was one of the last factions that felt some challenge. In my opinion they gave mechanics to play with at expense of the rts game again. Thanks for the video.

Completely agree. I like fielty system very much and like protecting the empire but I want to do that with Gelt, and now this crap with late returning, and I have to confederate the old way... I hope there will be a mod changing it back if its even possible. At least so he can be back in Solland.

You just have a little adventure then you can go back to Empire on turn 8 with a heap of buffs and money

The option to return to the Empire should teleport you to Solland with control of it. I thought he was going to start with still owning Solland but with Gelt's army starting in Cathay, kinda like Imrik and Eltharion.

You wish. You will also not have elector counts system and fielty. So I guess no special electoral units, no special confederations, no prestige, NOTHING. I hope the modders will fix that fast enough so I will not have to play on the old version too long.

New Gelt is awesome. Gelt is not an Elector count, he doesn't care about Prestige and Fealty and stuff he has ridiculous POWER instead.
