Black Wax is your friend .. my friend. 😁 No muss, no fuss. No waiting around for anything to dry or to melt or to soak and the stone won't move. It's just as secure with a wee bit of Black wax as with any epoxy and far less is needed. Boyd Fox has a couple videos re: Wax Dopping that can illustrate how easy it is and how little is needed. I like his "minimalist" way of dopping although I definitely don't have the skill to Freehand Dop. I always use a Jig. It's nice to have a stone ready within 10 minutes (beginning to end and ready for cutting) and maybe an hour at the very most in Alcohol to remove the wax from a stone. I use heat (and wet towel on the stone) to remove the gem from the dop but clean the stone in Alcohol (methyl hydrate) and the dop. Sometimes I use a bit of Acetone just to get any dissolved wax off my stone and dop. Regardless of all that, your gemstone turned out beautifully. I also like many of Arya's designs and cut many of them.

Thanks. I know that about half of gem cutters use wax and half use epoxy or superglue, so forgive me if I skip yet another 'debate' on this topic. Yes, Boyd is awesome and uses wax. Roger D. often teaches how to use wax at various USFG Symposiums in either Franklin or Tucson. I never got the hang of wax. I am currently using UV light activated super glue for everything except the largest stones. I still use 2 part epoxy with the larger stones. UV light activated super glue works immediately (as soon as you hit the glue with the light) and you can cut immediately after and that's my current go to method. But I have no issues with those who use wax....use what you like the best and enjoy cutting,,

Great video! I always look forward to seeing what treasure you end up creating. And thank you for going over the precision block while doing the transfer. I've been having some challenges doing my best with just eyeballing it and using my flatest lap as is. I spend an unfortunate amount of time trying to resolve the spiral! Perhaps I'll have to pick one up!

Thank you. Let me know if things are easier after you get a precision block.

Awesome cutting. I’m not cutting anymore but I am finding tons of gemstones. Some of which I’m not sure what they are. Pinkish purple stones and citrine all over.

Sorry to hear you are not cutting. I think that you buying an 'ebay special' faceting machine had a lot to do with you not cutting now. I hope you try again in the future, with a proper gem cutting machine, I think you would enjoy cutting gemstones! Glad your rock hounding is going well!

@@BOPIESDiamondsFineJewelry you are right. Lots of different reasons. Not the right laps. Also can’t see the index gears without magnification takes forever. Plus I just didn’t have money to invest in the gearloose laps. I will try again later. If I had customers or a place to sell my stones I would have continued. Just a lot of work for nothing.

I haven't had any luck with the ultralaps I bought. It seems like there is no abrasive on them. I did not buy mine from Ultratec. Nice stone!

Yes, sounds like you bought a batch from the same place I did, before I got some from Ultratec. It also seemed to me that the other lapidary store forgot to put the oxide on the lap.

Thanks. Nothing makes me more happy then when I create a beautiful gemstone and it goes to someone who will cherish it for their lifetime and then pass it down to their decedent's. Every gemstone I create goes to my wife, Bopie, at her jewelry store and are for sale.

Love your work. Is there a chance I can get a link to the ultra lap vendor you use. I seem to be having trouble finding it
