For 1976, that's actually a lot of raw talent. Doing triple toes when the Olympic Gold Medalist didn't land a single triple jump. She had great spring on her jumps, good speed, decent spins. Is that Zhuk, her coach? You can see on KZbin here that she competed in the 1984 Olympics too.

Школа, тогда для наших одиночников, была камень преткновения! Это не позволяла приблизится призовым местам!

People often focus on her jumping ability, but the flow, agility, the depth of her edges, the lines she creates, the use of her head, the sensitivity of her movements, her spins, etc. are all SUPER impressive.
@someone48887 ай бұрын
Her rotational ability was impressive, when she is in the air, instead of placing her arms tight to her chest, she lets it hang around her neck.

Революционно для эпохи,три тройных от 12-летней девочки,если бы учитывали только выступление в короткой и произвольной программе без школы,то Елена Водорезова стала бы призёром ЧМ-1977 13 лет!!

that pretentious wretch did not invent that arm variation. The only lutz worthy of being called a "rippon lutz" is a severely underrotated quad lutz!

@@hannibaljustincase9985 Very much like the Biellmann spin! Biellmann was only the 3rd or 4th skate to perform it but she is the only that popularized it-hence the name, Biellmann spin. I first saw Karin Iten perform it well before Biellmann even came into the picture, and I recently saw on KZbin Tamara Moskvina performing it in the 1960s.

Wow wonderful skating what happened to her? She should of won the gold in 1980.

She did another 2 seasons eventually winning the bronze at the 1978 European Championships. Sadly, she then developed juvenile arthritis and she didn't return until 1982 and equally sadly her jumping ability had gone. She won a few more medals because she really improved on her figures but by then they were worth less. It's a great pity really that such a promising career was destroyed by illness.
@martypellow99085 жыл бұрын
She won the long at the 1977 World Championships in Tokyo and finished 7th overall. She came 6th at the 1978 Worlds in Ottawa, where NondescriptNY says she came 5th in the LP (while landing a triple loop, the only lady possibly to do so, and almost completing a double axel-triple salchow combination). That was her peak and then she grew, had arthritis and dropped out for a few years. When she returned in 1982 she was much taller. She still had a beautiful line and high double axels. But the triples were rare. She landed triple toe at 1983 Worlds but fell on the salchow, winning the bronze medal on the strength of her figures and short. At the 1984 Olympics she didn't land any triples in her short or long program. Would love to see any other performances people have of her from 1977 or 1976 Worlds or any of the Russian competitions. Such a huge talent.

@@martypellow9908 I can remember watching it on T.V, I was 14 years old at the time. All I can remember was that she had a clean skate but I'm quite sure she must have done triples to beat Fratianne, Poetsch, Wendy Burge and Barbie Smith in the long.

@cedericocosantorini80135 жыл бұрын
Single loop, I'd say.
@npe15 жыл бұрын
@@cedericocosantorini8013 It's actually an inside axel. We don't see many of them today. You took off on forward inside edge, did 1 and a half revolutions and landed on the same foot as you took off on.
@cedericocosantorini80135 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the insight, @@npe1. But I see her take off from a back edge (her moving backwards), that's why I figured a loop.
@npe15 жыл бұрын
@@cedericocosantorini8013 She's not moving backwards, look more closely. It is impossible for her to move backwards after she's just landed forwards after a split jump.
