So true on the giving you mentioned. I was taught this early as a child. We grew vegetables for our personal use. However some years the yield was better than expected and we would have leftovers. My mom told us to put them in a baskets and place them on the front lawn for motorists to stop and pick up. She would never charge for them, she said if she did, our yield the following year would suffer. She was right. Other neighbors that mocked her for not charging their following year was not as bountiful as my moms! She was a firm believer of giving others who were not as fortunate as us we would be Blessed to never go hungry and we never did.

Your mother is right. My mother always fed the neighborhood kids meals, gave goods from our garden and mini orchard. She even packed extra sandwiches, milk/juice money in my lunch for kids that didn't always have any. She was disturbed their parents didn't ensure their kids always have what they should. Your mom sounds like a wonderful person, the kind this world desperately needs more like her. We were both Blessed to have ours teach us a most valuable life lesson. I was the one that was the neighborhood hang out place. I kept kids out of trouble and taught the ones teachers said could not be taught as I never believed in that theory. You just need to find the right way they understand things as we all think differently to some degree and work out a plan from there. lol
