hi gemma, lactation (breastfeeding) nurse here! have no idea how this would work but i'd love to be able to offer any support should you need it with getting little one feeding. the lack of support and understanding from nursing staff can be so crippling for mums so if there's any way i can help please feel free to reach out! 🫶🏼 hope everything goes well for you all, can't wait to meet the little one 🤍

Hi there Abigail, it would be amazing if you kick start a Chanel or even an Instagram page where you can help mummy’s. Or even online zoom courses that mummies can pay a fee to join. The antenatal classes in my area are no longer available unless I go private but it’s just not possible with the prices most of them charge.😢 I’m a second time mum my first son is 8 so it feels like I’m learning everything all over again. I’m currently 27 weeks and only just researching all about colostrum collection as last time I had no clue about it. Whatever you decide to do I wish good luck. People like you are amazing angels in mummies lives. I work for the NHS so I know is probably next to impossible to make the time and energy for you to start your own platform to help mummies. Lots of hugs

Commenting again after watching to just say I wish there had been someone like you to watch 15 years ago when I was pregnant. Your talk about breastfeeding particularly resonated with me. I tried desperately as a first time mum to breastfeed, getting more frustrated and upset as my baby girl was crying because she was hungry and made to feel so guilty by the midwives when I wanted to give up and make sure she was fed properly. I suffered post natal depression very badly after and feeling that kind of pressure really didn't help. There really is no shame in bottle feeding, each mama and baby is different and you have to do what's right for you both. Thank you for being so open and honest, I know you'll provide a lot of comfort and support to any new mamas out there 🤍🤍 xxxx

Yes some baby's don't latch on right away,but it's fine because u just keep trying then once there on it's very easy and u just get use to it,my little Autumn turned 1 just recently I still breastfeed because she loves it,but she's too attatched😊

@@claremurphy5089And some people keep trying and it’s still not very easy - for me, my mental health declined and I couldn’t be the best mum for my baby in that headspace so a change had to happen. Fed is best. Thank you Gemma for being so open on this topic ❤️
@claremurphy50896 ай бұрын
@@tahneecowie I know I had to try a few times at the beginning my baby's lips kept slipping off,so I had to try and get her to latch on very well the midwives were squeezing the milk out,then finally she took to it very quickly,I've also used formula with my other child I didn't breast feed my other daughter,

One of the things I did for my second baby was the baby bought my eldest a teddy as a present after she was born and it had a cute little personalized jumper on saying to my big sister love Jessica. My eldest still has this teddy 17 years later and never travels without it. Lovely keepsake. X

I don't know why I never thought of that before but I wanted to say thank you for making me feel young when I watch your videos. I've been watching them for years. I've already experienced alot of what you are going through in motherhood and the emotions that go with that and I want to tell you that you are doing a wonderful job and are such a lovely person. 🙂

I just had my second baby six weeks ago and just wanted to pop in a little encouragement from the other side! I tore my first time and I was really nervous about the second time round, especially recovering with a toddler who needs me. What helped me the most was talking through my fears with a trusted midwife and doula, and I also did more mental and spiritual preparation this time. It really helped me trust my body more and slow down during pushing. I’m happy to report that birth and recovery went SO much better this time! Sending prayers that you have a wonderful birth experience are are surrounded with compassionate and wise birth workers!

I had my boys at 36-37 & 38 weeks…….aaaah the joys. Enjoy your nesting❤Don’t ever feel judged by how you feed your bub. I’m a nurse and worked with many mums and bubs…I feed all 3 of my boys differently. My first was a NICCU bub and I formula fed and expressed for him. My second was breast fed and then comp fed til 14plus months and the last was formula fed (as I had an 18mo and 3 yo by that time). Do what makes YOU happy❤❤❤❤

My baby is 3 months old today, so watching this brings back very recent memories. I loved your comment about the coming home outfit. I agree that the instagram/KZbin obsession with this is not reality! I worried about what to pack before birth and ended up going home in compression stockings (to prevent blood clots), a nappy and a night gown after an emergency cesarean and Baby Boy was in a boring babygrow and vest. I felt like I'd been hit by a truck leaving hospital in a wheel chair 36 hours after a c section. I couldn't have cared less what either of us were in and just wanted to be in the comfort of my home with my baby. I wish you the very best for the birth of your 2nd son. xx

Thank you so much for elevating my day and seeing the funny side in things like I do. Why do men hate DIY when they are able to do it and understand tools etc? Watching this is making me think back on packing for my labour trip 😊 The only thinks I can think of that weren't mentioned is face cloths, and a TENS machine. That machine made my labour so much more tolerable! Little baba was sunny side up so I had a lot of back labour, so the TENS machine was a life saver. I got mine for 50 euro on Boots 😊 Thank you for the lovely vlog as always! ❤

Thank you so much for talking and sharing your thoughts/feelings on your experience with breastfeeding Noah. I gave birth 8 months ago now and it was an emergency c section with complications and my milk never came in. The crippling shame took over me and I couldn’t find anyone to talk to that understood what I was going through. I wish I could hear this 8 months ago, but thank you so so much for talking about it now as so many mothers can relate. It was back in the day when the saying was “breast was best” and midwives pushed it… my two were perfectly healthy well fed babies and my husband took a very active roll in feeding them including the night feeds, it was wonderful to share this with him and something he also treasured. Don’t let anyone tell you what to do, it’s your journey and decision. Good luck lovely. Xx

Hello Gemma, I just wanted to give you a little tip (gave birth to my second little angel 2 months ago), and this tip literally saved my breasts and breastfeeding journey - put that breast cream on your nipples and put the pad on top of them at all times, keeps the cream on the nipples because of the pad longer, I used the same cream. For me, it took only 2 weeks of "hurt," and since then, it doesn't hurt at all. 😊
