Love all of these Gemma! They make such a gorgeous trio of pastry and fillings - and having the dough come together in a food processor minimizes warm hands causing the butter to melt too quickly as well!

When you pulled those pop-tarts out of the oven, I could almost smell the cinnamon apple! Also, whenever I make apple pies, or tarts, I use really fine breadcrumbs instead of flour to absorb the moister because I just love the texture of that :D xoxo

Hello Gemma! I know you are inundated with questions but... I want to make sort of cookies as Christmas tree decoration and gifts. The icing that you make with just water, icing sugar and vanilla extract sounds great and easy enough. If the cookie that I am putting it on is cold would it hold for a few days or would I need to use something else. Like to use white chocolate as well, you know with a bit of food colour, but the person is allergic to lots of stuff. Thanks for the answer in advance, if no time, no problem, I'll work it out. Have you ever tried using puff pastry to make Pop-Tarts?

+Nana Osei-Tutu Ive tried! Its very flaky but difficult to store. Its almost light and it doesnt give you the texture of a store bought pop tart. Also when stored, it gets less crispy and its difficult to regain its crispiness. (due to the filling) I also found that the filling doesnt hold very well because the puff pastry when baked isnt as "hard" as the pie filling. Hope that helped!

what does really work nicely is store bought pie crust! I've recently made these pop tarts but with pie crust and it comes out beautiful and flakey, but very tender too. It also takes less time in the oven!
