I have been slowly adding grey items to my wardrobe and find them useful. I bought a second hand grey ribbed cashmere crew neck jumper and a dark grey Aran waistcoat in the men’s department and I wear them weekly. They look great with a silk or wool scarf or a silver necklace or brooch.

Remember, grays can have green or blue undertones. Those probably wouldn't look great in the same outfit together.

It seems to help if there's a marked difference in the lightness of the grays used, and changes of texture. Unless you can get your grays all from one brand in one season, a pale gray with a pale gray, for example, can easily clash. But a medium gray with a pale gray seems to work most of the time, especially when there's also a difference in texture. I have a number of gray pieces from different years and different manufacturers and that's how it's working for me.

I don't possess anything grey, such a dull colour. Warm neutrals look better on me. Walk down any uk high street in the winter and you'll see a sea of grey black or navy coats . Practical but dull. You're correct about adding white which brightens up the outfit.

Since warm colors are your thing, this probably wouldn't be for you, but gray makes a great base for colorful accessories like red, hot pink, rust, or royal blue.

Many women don’t look good in grey but there’s lots and lots of women who look fabulous in it. If I were to exclude colours, styles, fabrics, etc that don’t suit some people rather than focusing on the ladies it does suit I’d have nothing left to talk about 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤦‍♀️
