I just noticed that the levered versions always get out of sync at the end of the sequence. So I suppose that's one way to tell which version you have. You got lucky with the one you received.

Yeah. Every gear was split and a staple in Curly’s leg accidentally went through the wire that goes to his arms. So I had to rewire that.

How do you tell if they’re a levered version

The box has a Kmart price sticker, and the arms aren’t possible. You won’t hear a click when you try to move the arms.
