I actually brought game cards from games I own and love where I knew the artist would be present and had them sign those cards. It was a very fun experience doing that!

River Valley Glassworks was awesome to demo! So, fast to play but a lot of crunchy decisions. Can't wait for my KS pledge to arrive.

So, my plan for Gen Con this year was to not stand in line for core game purchases. Only expansions, books, dice, and component upgrades. And I held to that plan. So, I had plenty of time to do other things. I had two event tickets per day and then walked vendor hall in between. Starting on one end and zip zagging north and south down every aisle. I had my coupon book since Wedensday. So, that night I tore out all the coupons and put them in order of the route I walked through vendor hall. That alone was so cost saving, because I can easily forget what vendors actually had coupons.

The line management was fairly disorganized the first day or two. I personally think that lines should not wrap around a booth. I think if a vendor has a long line, it may work better if the line goes to the nearest outer wall and then moves along the wall. Of course, you need a Gen Con volunteer for every intersection it crosses, so that idea would be more staff labor intensive.

Yup, and as the convention keeps getting bigger it’s going to get more and more difficult to manage.

@BeerCityBoardGames 100% agree. At the end of the day, I don't mind the long lines as long as there is enough staff with signs to keep the intersections clear. I would like to add that I felt there were fewer strollers, wagons, and humongous over-sized backpacks, etc. this year, which kept pedestrian traffic flowing.

@@MonsterMotorsportsDiecast I saw quite a few large backpacks (mainly the AllPlay game bags), but I agree that it did seem like there were less strollers and wagons this year. Generally speaking, I don't enjoy big crowds but I tend to be more patient with them in these types of situations because it kind of comes with the territory. :)

@@BeerCityBoardGames oh yes, the Allplay bags! Those should be left at home for game nights 😆 If I couldn't keep everything in my Rollacrit Bag of Holding, I walked back to my hotel to empty my bag. 10 minutes away from noise and crowds was therapeutic 😌
