Gen tapping vs just repairing

Alright, time for some actual educational content for once:
First off, the amount of skill checks I got, 8 of them, were probably above average. I wasnt planning to hit too many great skill checks, but 2-5 ruin hits sounds about right. It likes to vary.
Spoiling the entire video for you, tapping took like around a minute longer than powering through it, only hitting 3 great skillchecks out of 8. Tapping a gen just takes a butt load of time and doesnt really help. Ruin saved around like 30 seconds on the powered through gen, and around 100 on the tapped gen.
Thus, tapping a gen is detrimental to the survivor and beneficial to the killer. Just power through the gen, ruin doesnt really need to be destroyed, either.

120 seconds tapping vs 115 seconds normally doing it? That's a 5 second sacrifice to avoid skillchecks and regression. There is a problem when such a strong hex can be bypassed in such a silly way.

But avoiding skill checks and regression doesnt really do anything if its still slower. 8 skill checks were also probably more than usual.

Also skill checks are completely random, you could get 50 in a row so this is completely useless. I mean I'm not trying to insult you, but this video isn't really a good example. You'd need a couple tests because of the randomness of the skill checks, and make the tapping less rapid because that's not how it's usually done.

You can only work with averages, imo. I think this one had an above average amount of skill checks. 5 skill checks made the gen completion time ~35 seconds slower, so one good skillcheck will put you back by around 7 seconds. I dont think that the amount matters that much. Also, do watch the follow up video.

At least know how to properly tap gens before doing this. It doesn’t take this long. Also, why doing this? Let people do what they want to do. You did this comparison with kyf, so it doesn’t show other parts. For example, there’s a noice notification for the killer every time you miss that great skill checks and sometimes you can get 10 sc or more on your way to 25%. There are some people who’re not good with skill checks. And if the killer immediately comes to the gen after you missed the great sc and sees you, he’s just gonna kick the geb and run after you, which leads to the gen regressing while you’re being chased. This takes way longer than just tapping the gen _properly_.

The killer doesnt get a notification if you hit a good skill check

Why do you let go of the gen when you get a normal skillcheck? That does nothing but waste time.

When the gen regresses through ruin (or through a failed skill check), you cant progress it for a while. If you repair during that time, all you do is increase the chance of getting a skill check again, so you just wait a bit.

Ah, so it does. My bad was completely unaware of this. I most of the time just tough it through that little bit or find the hex.
