My cousin is a lawyer . They said that most of those bills you should vote no on because of wording. They sound really great to start with then they trick you and go the opposite way. The only thing I voted yes on was to make everyone have to have a valid ID to vote. That’s the only question that was pretty cut and dry. Be careful with the wording. Any conjunction can change the entire meaning of the sentence. I would look it up before going into vote but if you can’t find it to your satisfaction, vote no. Like you said, they will try to sway you through emotions. Well as a Gen x I can tell you that it doesn’t work on me. Partially because I know that these stories are most likely made up. Happy day to you!

I almost always vote no on any proposition. It may sound harmless now, but it will most likely cause problems down the road and result in more taxes for nonsense.

Special interest groups and money shouldn't even be legal. The only bill on our agenda to vote on here in NC is passing a law that only citizens can vote in any election. The thing that always bugs me about these bills we actually get to vote for is they always write them in a positive negative or a negative positive. If you vote yes than you mean no and if you vote no you mean yes. I always have to read them a million times over because I feel like they are trying to trick us. The politicians and their lawyers write things the same way they talk.

Yes, I have seen that a thousand times. A "yes" vote is against the bill. It's done purposefully to confuse people. We need some real changes, starting at the local level.
@ozarkrefugee

At least a week before one votes, it is important to look over the sample ballot, break down what is being said and analyze the circumstance/proposition, then make your decisions. This way your not at the voting booth trying figure out what is it to be voting for. All civic and wildlife laws are written in a deceiving way to cause confusion, this way the gov't always has something on you to charge you with, then they will tell you -"you need to make it a point to understand the laws." It's a rigged game.

@ozarkrefugee I was sitting at the dining room table a few days before I voted, looking that over. My 14 year old son asked me what I was reading. I told him I was studying for an IQ test. With perfect timing, he said, "You can't study for that, prepare to fail." I'm so glad he knows a good joke when he sees one.

Cannabis just use the same laws regarding alcohol. The whole abortion issue is blown way out of proportion. Most states have it legal up to either 3 or 6 months and honestly IMO if you can't make up your mind within such a reasonable amount of time then accept responsibility for YOUR actions! Plenty of legal adoption option are available for those unwilling to accept the responsibility of parenthood! When it comes to minors use reason and DO NOT MAKE IT PUBLIC! Families dealing with such events are already dealing with enough trauma treating them like media targets is absolutely disgusting and disturbing!

Those are very good points. I have noticed and also talked with friends about this frustrating dynamic. A publication will make a sensational claim and or a headline regarding some bill that has been proposed however, they rarely link to the bill or even say the name of the bill. They will cherry-pick the terminology in the bill to present a really slanted version of what it is about.

The situation with the 10-year-old girl sounds like a classic case of "arguing from the margins", which is the logical fallacy that takes a super-rare exception to argue for the normative on any issue.

We'll look at the marijuana stores that have opened people are running them but they are solely opened and guideline did by the government themselves other than that if I had the money to open up a store to sell weed I wouldn't be able to do it without the government controlling the whole aspect of it in reality

The abortion thing they want to keep abortion going because of the stem cell research they need stem cells fresh ones to do that stem cell research and the best possible stem cells they can get are fresh ones from aborted babies. That's the truth of the matter on that.

Will hemp was legal back in the day and it was actually mandatory for Farmers to have a certain amount of acres dedicated to growing hemp the hemp is not the sensimillia kind but it is the same looking type of stuff they made clothes and things like that out of it and then you know the sensimilla the weed actually got popular that people are getting high off of and the government was mad because they weren't making a profit off it they want to be able to tax it so they banded it and the first thing they had to do to band it was to make a law that stopped the farmers from having to mandatory plant the hemp on their farmland land. And then it literally took a very long time years for them to go through all the countries in the back roads at least here in Iowa to get rid of all the hemp plants that were growing everywhere so people couldn't grow the marijuana in between them and hide the fact that they were drawing the sense of Amelia that they were making money off of and the government was like we're not lining our pockets with their hard work so we're going to band it until we can come up with an ideology to where we can somewhat bring it back and say it's a good for municipal purposes so that way we can have stores open and make a profit off of it
