It’s not toxic it’s just rap. His name is pronounced Ra- KEM.
@kelllzzzkellzz49103 күн бұрын
“RA-KEM”?😂 No.. RAKIM-“Kim” sounding like the word “Swim” . The majority of his songs would seem like the lyrics are coded to those who don’t understand 5% Nation of ISLAM lessons because in nearly every song he has on the first two albums has Supreme Mathematics and the 12 Jewels of ISLAM written into his raps. His name RAKIM is his attribute given to him by the 5% Nation of ISLAM The GOD RAKIM ALLAH.

Rakim is the reason Eminem , Snoop Dogg, Kendrick , etc even exist. He wasn’t being toxic about the 🎤comment he simply means he’s comin with everything he has so he might as well break the 🎤 cuz whoever is on deck should just stay there cuz there’s no need to pick up this 🎤 when IM done.

Reacting to rakim needs to start with Eric B for president so you can understand more of his punch line...So start there "Eirc B for President".

"Spark this microphone." Guy didn't catch the picture. When you "spark" a joint what do you see? Heat, smoke, flame. Comparing his rapping on the mic to smoking a joint.

Rap all started with DJ's/mixmasters playing and mixing up awesome tracks at parties and at some point at the party you prob would have dance offs but also known and unknown rappers would rap on those beats and prob some got as serious like rap battles one after the other like a cypher. And you wanted to make sure as the one on stage in front of the famous DJ before the huge crowd to have the hardest or entertaining lines to get respect for your rap skills and get some reconition and fame at some point... as far i get it. Because you surely won't be played on the radio as a rapper at the time with them hard ass lines. 😸

So back in the day you HAD to be original. "Bitin'" was a cardinal hip-hop sin. You couldn't steal a style. It's ok to be influenced but we put a lot of stock in someone that was an innovator and game changer and had a unique style. it's one of the big criticism you'll year of certain rappers now is that they all sound the same and/or have the same flow.
@rbailey33095 күн бұрын
That was true with today's music too. At one time, it took seconds to recognize an R&B or singer, not to mention the music arrangement. Today, you have to find out who made the song if you liked it because the artists are interchangeable.
