This is gold 🔥If you were mixing to master in a different session would you have that much emphasis on gain staging? Given that you can normalize a 32-bit mixdown file and it still retains all its transients even if it clipped.

I mean if that works for you then that's great. But I personally prefer to have a clean sound all through regardless. And gain staging all of the elements of the mix is a great way to achieve that. I also think it's better.

The concept of gain staging for vocals is actually very simple if the vocals is too loud you use a gain plugin to turn it down so you don’t clip. And if it’s too quiet to turn it up to Atleast -18db. How do you know when to add gain or reduce gain with the trim plug-in while gain staging? And I noticed that you reduced -6 gain for some instruments and some -10, is there a particular level all instruments should hit on the meter?

@@dura3775 cos like I’ve mentioned many times, I'm targeting between -18 to -15db lufs on the pre-fader meter. So the trim will differ depending on how loud or quiet the signal is.

Hardly but I do what the record needs. Also the comeback kid delay I use has a ducker feature which is pretty much side chain built into the delay plugin so I use that to control delay.
