I was born at the end of 2009 and even I remember most of this stuff. It was the golden age to be alive. But sadly, as one of the last of the Gen Z’s all this stuff is gone and has been replaced with an empty void of nostalgia. All the Gen Alpha stuff is SOOOO boring and bad. Music these days is terrible just like everything else. It feels like the world has moved on while I cling to the past. I can’t deal with Gen Alpha’s BS. I just wish I had been born a few years earlier so I could have experienced more of this stuff. I remember that for a period of time, my school or class idr, banned Pokémon cards. Those were the good old days. I vibe more with the people in older grades although I’m less mature. Idk I just wish people were more how they were back then.

When I was a kid my mum always listened to the 80s music radio so I feel nothing for most early 2000s music while my friends act like it’s the best songs ever. Then I feel nostalgic for random 80s songs. Small things like that make me feel like I’m in my own generation.

tmw you mentioned the cup song I nearly fucking flipped cuz I honestly thought that was just a my childhood thing- like sure everyone was learning how to do that cup thing but nobody I know nowadays even cares about the song meanwhile I go back to it at least once a month- then again it might stick with me more cuz it was one of those songs my daycare would play during naptime while I'd be awake doodling since I was the 'good kid'

GOD, you're unlocking my childhood. As a 12 year old, I do have thoughts of leaving the house and go to my cousin's house whenever my parents beat me, confiscated all my games and took away my Casio piano keyboard for bad grades. LOL. Those were the days.

Oh my goodness does anyone else remember those video game displays at stores? Like there was a controller and you could play a demo version of a game? My brother and I would love doing that and when we would turn around and our mom would walk off. Or more likely we would walk away from her to go play those games. We’re another cool thing that we did growing up was we would return our bottles and whatever money we got from the bottle returns. We would buy a cheap toy. It was definitely the highlight getting to pick out a crappy toy with your own money! I felt so grown up!

In my kindergarten we had a sandbox in the playground. But instead of trying to build sandcastles we would try to find these fake plastic gems my teacher would bury in the sand. It was so cool to find one. Especially the butterfly and specially shaped ones. At that time we were confused about where they came from but by now I’ve realized our buried them. It was so fun. She was also such a nice teacher.

I’ll grab all the pillows that were on the couch and make them in the morning even grab a blanket pillow for which is very bad like I would be cramped now because I didn’t have all the materials to build normal pillow and blanket, which is the roof of my pillow, you can poke your head through
