This is a recent shift in perception, because just a few years ago the only Filipina beauty standard was to be mixed with Caucasian and not be a pure native. As a genZ, I appreciate both tanned and white. They represent both Filipinos. I think we put so much highlight with tanned skin nowadays. It has long been discussed in our generation now and I think, we are transitioning to tolerance and more acceptance sa Tanned. Tanned skin/white skin are both beautiful. Remember Filipinos are diverse; Short/Tall, high-bridged nose/flat nose, Tanned/white, narrowed-eyes/big eyes etc. We should not put label to characteristics as "Toxic, unnatural, the natural one, the relevant and irrelevant". We are composed of different genes and diversity is what makes us unique and beautiful. Morena/Moreno defines the majority of Filipinos, but white/fair skinned Filipinos do exist and they represent us well too.
