Your "passion" is like a 9 years old kid in a divorce proceedings: listen to it, but don't let it decide for you.

The only majors worth going to college for are STEM . Everyone says follow your passion but nobody talks about that your PASSION needs to be able to pay your BILLS, if not it's useless

Yeah, STERM and skilled trades. while passion is important, it's crucial to choose a path that can also support you financially.

The only purpose of a degree is to keep the universities open. People with degrees are as common as ants….and there is no shortage of degree holders. Go to tech school, Get some skills, learn a sellable trade, keep your debt low. There is no benefit to a degree in common fields.

This is so sad. It's a cycle to keep people down. Other countries have not nearly the amount of debt we face. Having a life is not a priority here.

It really does feel that way sometimes. The cycle of debt in the U.S. can be overwhelming, and many struggle just to keep up with basic expenses. In contrast, other countries often have different systems for education, healthcare, and housing that don't burden people with the same level of debt. It's frustrating when it feels like having a balanced life is out of reach for so many.

For generic jobs. Ones where you have to usually go through applying to human resources, then hopefully interview prelim, and then hopefully interview serious. A degree is still necessary. But it's the bare, bare minimum. Basically need 4 things for best shot. College degree. But that only makes sure your info doesn't get tossed in the first 15 seconds. Experience. Experience in whatever job area looking at is huge. Anything close or part time is not best but OK. But must be able to get good recommendation from those jobs. This puts you in the possible pile. Advanced degree or certification in job area. This adds a little oomph. Shows you are a serious player. Luck. Other's out there. Right place, right time necessary. Even having these four only can get you to interview. Then it's sell yourself time. Have to remember that getting to interview is just about checking the 3 right boxes with luck. Interview is about selling yourself to decision maker. Hoping all job seekers find success!

You’ve made some solid points. Selling yourself in an interview is crucial, but it's also important to major in fields that are in demand. For those following their passion, I get it- it’s important, but it needs to be balanced with practicality. It’s got to be something that can pay the bills. Good luck to all the job seekers out there!

Very true. Right or wrong, it's like Gordon Gekko says in the movie "Wall Street" - "It's all about the dollars, kid. The rest is just conversation."

I made 3k this week. I have an associate degree in industrial electronics and another in electrical technology.

I have three of those degrees and work at a coffee shop

That’s a tough situation. It really shows how the job market doesn’t always align with the degrees we earn. Welcome to my channel, by the way. Don't forget to subscribe and thank you for your comment!
