dude I'm brazilian and when he came back to brazil he was just crazy, over here he's treated as the legend that he was, and still played very well until around 2002, btw vasco (the team he was playing for) faced the champions league winners man united at 2000 and won by 3x1 with 2 goals from him

Romario doesn’t come up in convos IN ENGLAND because the Dutch league wasn’t covered at the time, and only 1.5 years at Barca. Just less coverage of world players back then pre internet and smart phones. But the Dutch know. And so do the Brazilians.

-Romario was probably really one of the most talented players ever, if you read up on what he got away with but was still so good, it's kind of insane lol. He's probably one of the most entertaining football figures, too, the stories about him are hilarious (one of my faves is he punched Diego Simeone in a game in retaliation after getting a harsh foul on him. My personal fave player is R9 and I loved his mostly calm and graceful demeanor even if he was fouled harshly but just sometimes I wish that players who intentionally go for the hurt would receive such a no-nonsense attitude by the players they hurt more lol. ) BTW the video got it wrong on him drinking. He partied hard but he didn't drink and he played up until he was 40. -I heard (dunno if it's true though) that Romario was/is often quite vocal about the corruption going on it football so FIFA and co aren't as keen to hold up his status?? I think he was one of the few ex-players being against the WC being hosted in Brazil back in 2014. -The case of Romario possibly making a difference in the 1998 WC is an interesting one. Iirc when the Romario-Ronaldo duo played Brazil never lost a game (similar-ish to the Pele-Garrincha-duo).Then there is the whole thing that happened on the day of the finale in the 98 WC. R9 essentially had a seizure that day, what exactly caused it is still a mystery and there are like a million conspiracy theories out there and probably could be a video on its own. One of the theories is that the stress and the pressure of R9 having all of Brazil's hopes on him as a just 21-years old got to him. Having Romario there with him would have probably eased the load a bit and maybe it wouldn't have occured. Or at least they hopefully wouldn't have played R9 that day and just went for a Romario. To this day I don't understand how you let someone play who had just suffered a seizure, like how irresponsible is that. -As a suggestion how about Franz Beckenbauer? He's considered the greatest football player of Germany and one of the players who made Bayern Munich from a second division team to what it is nowadays. In a similar vain, Gerd Muller might be worth a reaction, too. Could be relevant, too, since he passed away this year and since Lewandowski broke one of his records this year as well.

actually romario did NOT drink. didnt smoke neither. i dont know if he does now, but as a player he never smoke nor drank. his biggest vices were parties/women. he would party late into the night and not show up for training, or show up for training and sleep. he was partying in rio when his wife gave birth to their son in barcelona. but he wasnt a drinker nor smoker

This video is very disrespectful to Romario. First ask anyone that knows him, he doesn't drink. He did not retired as an athlete after returning to Brazil, he was gifted so he only trained finishing. Watch and react to Romario most clinical striker ever.

If you pause at 6:40 you'll notice the photo shows the 1995 match, NOT the 1994 El Clasico the narrator is discussing. You can tell it's 1995 because it shows Romario playing for Barca, but Michael Laudrup (#10) is playing for Real Madrid. In 1994, they both played for Barca and beat RM 5-0. In 1995 Laudrup won 5-0 again, but for RM.

Romario was too good, only Messi can compare to him, but he was another kind of genius, he was so good that he didn't even try to go back and recover the ball or help the team create a play because he knew that he only needed to receive a ball in the last third to score the goal... it's like if Messi never helped the team to create a play, but I will say Romario was more clinical and even a better goal scorer than Messi! And it comes from A Barça fan that goes to the stadium since 1996! And btw, Romario did never drink when he was partying!

he doesnt get brought up as much cos the world really saw him at usa 94, after that he went back to brazil. english fans saw a glimpse of him, when he and stoitchkov destroyed manchester united at the nou camp. he didnt stay in europe long enough and i think he was injured in 98 so missed france 98. and in 2002 scolari felt he was too controversial to have him on his brazilian squad, even though he helped brazil in the qualifiers

Goodnight. You and your friends who are the same age as you haven't met or heard of Romário among other players from Brazil or even Argentina because you always thought that football in Europe is better. And that's not true. European clubs are only big clubs because of the money and the economic difference. Until the end of the 1990s, clashes between clubs on both continents were very even. See that Barcelona F.C. until the beginning of the 2000s was a small club in terms of achievements. Only with the massive investment of money did this change and until the end of the 2010s, South American players were the ones who shined in European clubs. You will understand this in a short time, because Saudi Arabia will do to European football what the Europeans did to South American football.

@michelgomes7363

@michelgomes7363
@michelgomes7363 2 жыл бұрын
Marcos. Dida. Rogério Ceni.
