To those watching that would like to have heat if this device is failed I would suggest manually turning to open the top valve and reinstalling it you will still get the code and the device really won't be functioning as it should but you will have heat and that's all I really cared about

great video! For a while I was hearing constant see-saw kind of noise from the valve, as it is opening and closing, then after a while it failed and it threw the error P1121 . So, I replaced the coolant valve and I have proper amount of coolant. The error is gone but but constant see-saw kind of noise is still there. What could be the problem? Is that noise normal?

Glad it helped, ours had debris in the system and the new valve got stuck shortly after replacement. A good flush post removal returned it to proper, mostly noiseless, function.

So is this set by the check engine light? Or the Triangle of death? or both? I'm getting just about all the lights come on on my dash except the check engine light. But when I connect the obdII scanner it's not picking up any codes. Which usually means that the triangle/hybrid system computer is throwing the code. not the ECM.

Check Engine Light as far as I have seen.

Thanks. I have since found my problem. It was a hybrid battery issue. Something about a high voltage leak. I took the battery apart cleaned up the bus bars etc. Put it all back together and problems solved.

Hello i am having some problems with my 2nd gen prius cooling system and getting this code but i am having trouble finding a list of any symptoms associated with it, my car is rapidly loosing coolant and my mechanic tells me he thinks the problem may be a head gasket because he cant find the leak. But my car is also giving this code and my over flow reservoir is always way to full almost to the point where it looks like it could be over flowing, i am wondering maybe this valve is directing the coolant to the over flow reservoir where it is then spilling out. Do you know what functions this valve performs i cant find any symptoms or description of its functions any where on the internet?

Are you losing engine coolant or hybrid coolant, as they are completely different systems. To answer your question: the only purpose of the "thermos bottle system" that this valve works with is to warm up the engine faster after a cold start.

Oh i see i am loosing engine coolant and i believe i have identified the problem, i am pretty sure i have a blown head gasket thank you for your reply.

yes ,head gasket flow/ bad,, check oil cap under see yellow coffee > bad head gasket

Mines starting to fail, risk overheating if I wait till it throws codes?

This valve only affects the cabin heat and warm-up performance, not engine cooling.

Hello, I have the light check on my Toyota Prius 2004, the code is P2601 : cooling pump​ control circuit range/performance, what's problem. Note: I've replaced cooling pump 3 holes, and cooling tank also. But still alert "check P2601).

Possibly the inverter coolant valve. Its a separate valve from this one shown on the video
