Just passed 1 year with my 2022 37. Love it just as much as day 1. At 14K miles now. It’s been great on and off-road… it is wide for some trails where decisions on which side is getting scratched has to be made. People ask how it drives.. it defies the laws of physics.. something this big with tires this big shouldn’t drive this well. So much fun.

Just ran into this review a year later while currently shopping for a 2024 Raptor (non-R) and dealers actually have some 2023’s left over and from what they are telling me, “eager to sell the 2023’s”, we will see. This review was great! Glad to see a review from someone that really drives their truck a lot! What’s ironic is that I was actually shopping for a RIvian R1T. I am not opposed to going electric, but there still needs to be some things worked out on that end. Cost and cost of insurance being a couple.

I have a velocity blue 2019 Gen 2 Raptor. Some guy traded it in for a M3 BMW. There were only two this color in DFW. I bought it Nov 2020 at 9500 miles for $66Gs. I had to get the pump sender unit fixed. Put road warrior bumpers on the front and back. Light rack came with the bumpers and put amber lights in the fogs. Nitto ridge grappler tires. They have better grip on the road than the BF Good-wrench. Especially on the wet roads. I like the Raptor R. Saw someone buy one. I rather buy a house here in TX than buy the Raptor R. I have a Gen 2 raptor since dealers wanted $25k over MSRP for GEN 3 raptors and they were giving me like $50 back for lost features due to chip shortages. It was insane that they were trying to pull that off. The only reason I didn't buy a TRX is because of their GVWR. To get a temporary import permit into Mexico it needs to be under 7,716 pounds and a TRX is sadly 7,800. I like the looks of the GEN 2 raptor a lot more than the GEN 3. So I'm very happy with my purchase.

@@ChristianGrest Just wanted to let you know they are not that heavy. I have a loaded 2021 Level 2 with the panoramic sunroof and I weighed it on the CAT Scales at a nearby truck stop. With a full tank of gas it was only 6,800lbs. I will add that before the TRX I had owned F150's the last 20 years of my life, my last truck before this one was a 2014 F150 FX4 that was loaded and very nice. I ran a 93 octane tune on it from the time the warranty ended till I traded it at 196,000 miles. I had never looked at a Ram, not because I didn't like them I just had always bought a Ford. I had a friend at the Ram dealership that knew I was in the process of buying a Gen 3 Raptor and asked me to come look at another customers white TRX to see what it looked like. Needless to say I put an order in on a black one right afterwards that I received in June of 2021. I let the Ford dealership sale the Raptor I had ordered. I have to say the TRX is a great truck.

@@PatriotJK1776 no doubt they’re great trucks! Out of the big 3 auto makers, I’ve owned more Fords and Dodges than anything GM. If the TRX had a larger tank then it might actually work for my use case with traveling and towing long distances. It’s slightly softer especially going over bumps at a higher speed. The largest advantage is the upgraded interior, but the suspension upgrade is very nice as well. Are those 35's or 37's on your Raptor? Do you think on a long roadtrip, if you kept all the adjustments at the right position, maybe normal or econo mode if there is one, turning down the exhaust, other things, not sure what settings those would be, driving steady, nothing crazy, a constant maybe 70mph, do you think you could average 20mpg or a tad more? Though I've heard the highway ride in the Raptor is buttery smooth due to the sprig suspension and such, I've also heard that the seats are firm, do you find the seats comfortable on long highway drives, how so? And lastly, if you've ever driven on highways in bad snowstorms, while in your lane where the tracks are it can feel solid, but when you cross lanes thru the deeper snow that accumulates between lanes, it will often feel wishy washy, unstable, for the few moments until you are comfortable in the next lane over. I've been concerned that with that much greater wheel width of the Raptor it might always be driving a little bit outside of the tracks of the other vehicles in you lane so would never quite feel fully stable, a bit like it was always crossing that deeper snow between lanes. Have you any experience with that, do you think that would occur, or am I over analyzing this, over thinking it, and though the Raptor has a wider width the lanes are not precise so it would still feel fully stable while in a lane?

Great. I was hoping that would be your answer. Do you think the average mpg could be close to that on the 37's? Any chance you also re-read the above and answer the other two questions? I'm going round and round about getting the Raptor, a Tremor or a platinum, and if one of the later two, bumping them up to 35's with a level after purchase, that way as one example, I could get the luxury Platinum seats but modify the Platinum with a lift and slight offset and bigger 35's for added road clearance and width/presence. I'm just not sure there is anything I could do to the Platinum to make its ride as buttery smooth and comfortable on the highway as the Raptor's, so maybe just go for the real thing, the Raptor. Thanks for your answer(s).@@ChristianGrest

Thanks for taking the time to reply multiple times. That is what I was thinking, it's nice to read someone actually stating it. If I go the Raptor route, and that is what I want, then I just have to decide a few things, top among them is whether to get the stock 35's or the 37 performance package. I like the idea of that ever further upgraded suspension, and frankly the look, but still wonder about the 37's impact on average mpg on long highway drives. Any thoughts on that? And I also have to decide on whether to get the new Pro Access tailgate with the smaller, center swinging door in addition to the traditional open flat capability. Since I plan to put a smooth, black Diamondback HD bedcover on it, I'm thinking the nearer access of the Pro Access Tailgate might be a real advantage, especially if I load stuff on top. But the 35 vs 37 question is my primary last issue. I'd be happy with either tailgate. All the best to you.

I’ve run premium in all my 3.5 and 2.7 turbo motors. Not necessary, but when I’ve run regular the mileage suffers and there is a noticeable difference in the 3.5 especially.

You like the stock power , add the Whipple stage 1 kit , you will love it , 2100.00 added torque and HP much better peddle mapping

Have been considering Goosetune. Pretty impressive results with just a tune. But honestly I’ve been pretty satisfied with the stock power.

@@ChristianGrest doing a tune without upgrading the inner cooler and intake , stresses the turbos , the Whipple kit is great , I have it on my gen 3 with 37 package
