Aww, he was so panicked. I feel bad when I have to take my cat to the vet for shots or something. It's hard to make them understand it's for their own good. Garu was so brave and he's so lucky to have a caring owner!!

I find it intriguing that there is such a thing as an "Owl Shop". Having captive raptors is so restricted here in the US that I would never have considered it before. But there it was with several species of owl and even a Harris Hawk. I am happy that you have such a resource to help care for Garu and keep him in the best of health.

It's probably for the best that raptors like Garu and the like not be kept as pets. They do not make for good pets for the overwhelming majority of people. Owls and raptors in general are very high maintenance birds.

@@nil981 I understand that. I used to volunteer with a large raptor rescue organization and have frequently been around the birds that they care for. But I also take into account different cultures around the world and try not to judge them by what is acceptable or not in the US. I also don't think they should be pets but I meant my comment to say that if it is acceptable in a country like Japan at least the owners have a good place to take them for care.

Handsome male needs maintenance. No such shops in USA, and Avian Vets often do not know falconry equipment. They can trim beaks and talons and give nutritional advice. Falconers are taught by their sponsors. Even more handsome now.

I find it hard to accept the idea of an owl in captivity; I think they should remain wild unless a rescue situation makes it impossible to release them. But, Garu is gorgeous and adorable, and I wish I could cuddle him.

Oh my… I remember when my Siamese got the manicure time , we have to do the same (2 persons to do it) … but I have to say Garu has the best patience for try to wait till the end(well I don’t surprise him goes angry at the end for that lol my Siamese let you 15/30 scratches before you can end the manicure 🤣). ¡Garu well done! 🥰
