Awesome. Thank you! Genesis is certainly a band/genre I'll be getting back to. I absolutely love 70's Genesis, with and without Gabriel. How the AI in UDIO managed to nail Phil's voice is crazy, because you can't use real musical artists or band names in the prompts, yet through my description it figured it out. Mind-blowing.

this is brilliant. it sounds more Peter Gabriel than Phil Collins though. love the keyboards towards the end. my one criticism is the Drums.. it’s just holding down the off beat.. Phil Collins would have added amazing fills all over that track

Thank you! It's amazing I got anything close to Peter or Phil because you can't actually use real band names or artist names in your prompts. I had to describe his voice. The keyboards really feel like Tony Banks which is wild. Yes, needs more of Phil's unorthodox drumming. Glad you enjoyed :)

My honest thoughts. It's got Phil's voice down very well, but musically it doesn't really remind me of Genesis, except in certain parts. Also, it has the tendency (as much AI stuff does) to just wander on without really getting to a point. IE, I know we're talking prog here, but there's not really a bit that I could define as being a verse or chorus. It just sort of keeps going on. Also, don't know if you penned the lyrics yourself, but it kind of feels like AI did them to me. The same sort of issue. It just keeps expanding but doesn't really resolve. I think this is something that comes with practice with the technology, and of course the ever improving technology itself. Don't get me wrong, it's hugely impressive. I've been playing with Udio myself. It's so weird, because it feels like it's a song in progress, as if a human was still working it out in their head. Yet, it's done to studio quality, which in reality would never happen. :) That's how I feel about Udio when I've tried it. It's like a weird contradiction. But really interesting.

@PeterCamberwick Thank you for the in depth comment. This song is meant to be reminiscent of stuff Genesis was doing on albums like Trick of the Tail and And Then They Were Three mixed with some of their even earlier more abstract works. Not the 80's Genesis. Also, this was the 1st AI track I ever did. At that point I didn't understand UDIO well and how to put together verses and make song sound fleshed out and well rounded. I do recommend checking out later tracks I did. I cover all kinds of genres. The Vishnu Project is mind-blowing, if you like early 70s fusion jazz, and Rockter Docter is a real doozy. In regards to the lyrics my early stuff I used the ai as a base and would re-write some. Yes, this track is 100% AI generated Lyrics. Now I'm spending more time on lyrics. The Slag Stevens track I wrote, including all the oddities in his vocal styling. My new stuff is also tight, wraps up nicely. This was again, my very first go at it, but UDIO definitely has the tools within it to make a track that feels complete. Just takes some doing.
