I am 34 years old and searched this video trying to figure out why my dad gave me the middle name Autry after Gene Autry. I'm now proud ❤

Never met this man but have read from many sources that he was one of the nicest most generous down to earth genuine people you could ever meet. This man according to people who knew him well did not have one mean bone in his body and what you saw is what you got with Mr. Autry. He loved and served his Country and was a faithful and true Family man right down to his cowboy boots. He is the kind of person I would loved to have met and maybe sit down and just talk about life for a couple of hrs. I believe I would come away a lot richer I don't mean about money but about life would have truly loved to have met him.

Gene has more stars on the Hollywood Walk of fame than anybody else. He has 5 stars One each for records, movies, radio, television, and public appearances. He was a generous man, a war hero, and loved by millions.

Great man, but war hero is a stretch. He was a ferrying squadron pilot ferrying B-17s to England for assignment to bomber squadrons. His service was valuable but I think he’d agree that it wasn’t anything to write home about.

Got a brief chance to talk to Mr Autry while his limo was pulling out after a 1986 playoff game at Fenway Park in Boston. Red Sox had just beaten his Angels in game 6, but he couldn't have been more pleasant, stopping the limo to chat with us fans. He lit up when I told everyone it was "The Singing Cowboy". One very nice man.

He was so decent he made passes at all his leading ladies, had a ten-year affair with Gail Davis, AKA Annie Oakley, even though he was married thru out all his affairs. He even traveled promoting her show staying in the same room. He never had to worry about getting them pregnant because he was sterile. But he got payback with his 2nd wife, Jackie, ever know why she had never been married at her age when he married her. Take a good look at her, she married him for money.

@@chriskroll4166 110% sure do the research yourself. He knew he could never get a woman pregnant so look up the reason why that was. Too many leading ladies said he did and Gail Davis wrote about it plus all the people that worked in the hotels they booked in the same room when they promoted her show. He was NOT what you saw on the screen.

He appeared in the Wide Wide World episode because of so many TV westerns being shot at the Melody Ranch location. John Wayne was one of the actors who appeared. The name of the film where he fought Roy Rogers was the Old Corral. Roy did appear in the Big Show which was filmed partially at the Texas Centennial. Roy was then part of the Sons of the Pioneers. John Wayne's singing voice was dubbed by a Bill Bradley, brother to Bob Steele. Bradley was not a member of the Sons of the Pioneers.

The Cowboy Code By Gene Autry 1. The cowboy must never shoot first, hit a smaller man, or take unfair advantage. 2. He must never go back on his word, or a trust confided in him. 3. He must always tell the truth. 4. He must be gentle with children, the elderly, and animals. 5. He must not advocate or possess racially or religiously intolerant ideas. 6. He must help people in distress. 7. He must be a good worker. 8. He must keep himself clean in thought, speech, action, and personal habits. 9. He must respect women, parents, and his nation's laws. 10. The Cowboy is a patriot. Gene Autry's Cowboy Code was written for all of his young fans that wanted to be just like him. And in my opinion a much better set of guidelines to live by than any religious lists.
