It's not in focus, but I'm pretty sure Gene is laughing his ass off back there after that epic gaffe about his "brother" Michael.

Like all of Gene's body of work, this is a sleeper and an underrated gem. He was an artistic success when the definition of commercial success didn't match.

I am blessed with having seen The original Byrds (w/ Gene Clark ) in 1966 . The other band on the concert was The Buffalo Springfield ! :)

Great tune! I was fortunate enough to see the 20th Anniversary Celebration of The Byrds in Philadelphia in 1984 with Gene, Michael (the brothers, ha, ha) along with Rick Roberts, Rick Danko, Blondie Chaplin and others. Great show!

I saw that Byrd's tribute band in 1984 in Seattle. No opening band, but two or three players did solo acts to open. Danko was good but the other two were tedious. Also, the band played too many obscure Bob Dylan songs. I wanted more Clark and Roberts songs.

An excellent live performance from the band. Some really nice lead guitar work too.

Trace, I realize I'm coming in six years late on your comment. If you're still watching, can you tell me, was that Michael Clarke on drums? I realize they weren't brothers, etc. It looked like Michael Clarke (with shorter hair than usual), but I was wondering if you could confirm yes or no? And fantastic guitar work on this!

This was a great Gene Clark group .....did you guys fall into the cowpunk scene in LA at the time ? Did you guys hang out with the other groups like long ryders and green on red and dwight yokum etc? Loved the country rock resurgence back then

The "Yes" reference was another fabrication of an over imaginative publicist.Trace Harrill; Guitarist in this video. And yes it was hysterical and very early in the day. That's Showbiz.

I wish these idiot MCs would do their homework before embarrassing themselves on TV like that. Michael's real last name was Dick....sort of like a good description of this MC. Great performance, though. Great song that should have been a hit for Gene.
