Thank you for posting this video. I'm lucky to have experienced the glory years of 1/10th scale off-road, and things changed a lot for me once I got a Team Car back in 1992. Looking back, Associated cars were incredibly good as was all the other RC stuff that was made in the US back then. Kids now don't know what they're missing.

you have no idea how much i enjoyed watching these videos. these were the glory days. the guys including yourself were my pro athletes/ rockstars/ idols when i was a teen from 87-95. I raced dirt oval locally with RC10 conversion. Being of limited funds i dreamed of sponsorship and becoming pro. As young adult I was able (barely) to afford RC10GT and a RC10L gas conversion. I had plans of racing and after a few months testing at local tracks (King RC in NC) I was ready. Life showed up in form of a beautiful baby girl and I had to put the racing on hold. i have wanted to return to hobby since. KZbin videos are the only RC enjoyment i can afford at moment but your videos have turned my pilot lite into a full cooking flame. I thank you for memories and apologize for the novel. Thank you and I have all notifications on in hopes of more content from you soon.

This is when I first really got into racing. Hobby City in San Diego (late naked Discount Hobby Warehouse). We’d get a group and make the trip to the Ranch or SoCal Raceway. Great memories!

I have to get them converted to be able to post them up . I really do need to get it done because I have allot and it's really cool stuff and people would dig it . I'm suprised there isn't more footage of the Ranch on KZbin . That was the place to race if you were going to get good . Team Shark !

We lost the speed runs videos back in 99 my brother had them. the late night SoCal up until morning, speed runs down Garfield with 15 cells stacked 8t mods..can’t forget Alan riding his dirt bike on the track and wrecking into the race instructors booth.. one day we came to SoCal and caught SLIM passed out on the pit tables. We would bang on the windows until he would roll off the table and let us in, only if we went and got him some food..and Gabe , yea I remember you, if Jim didn’t do the races you did. And after they were over you would get so pissed off when you wanted the track to yourself for the last 15 minutes before Jim or Lanna cut out the lights! 😉 crazy how I was 12 at the time, Now 37. My best highlight of my Rc career at SoCal..which was funded by the rents, was when I beat Curtis Jr, in a modified buggy race...and got props from him, which to me was as fast if not faster than BK at the time, Wes Carlton, Mike Holden, Greg.. the xx was the golden ticket..cheers Gabe B. Oh & Thank you for your service!

yep i had a blast working there! and the racing was intense back then. It was like the nationals every night with all the factory drivers there. Those speed run videos were gold! And yes slim would sleep there sometimes! Good times! Thank you for your kind words.

I'm sure every girl dreams of dating a factory driver. Most guys get into RC cos of the fame, fortune, and women it brings.

Have some cable cameras above the tracks so the people at home can see better. Plus you get better action videos too. I guess that's why the sport hasn't grown. The fans don't have an opertunity to view the races. Or to have a favorite driver. So they can cheer him on and buy his swag. This sport is becoming extinct for alot of reasons but it's mainly because it isn't promoted like a sport should be. Think about it.

I think you're right. Even in the world super fast internet for streaming and cheap high quality cameras it still isn't done well.

Nitro was the best. They should have had age limits and kept them older guys separate. That's never been fair for the younger racers. And made it hard on the new ones wanting to get into the hobby. Plus the cars and parts are way to expensive for a beginner. That's why the sport can't or hasn't grown. Who can afford it. And the tracks are way to ruff on the cars. These are not made of much and the ruff tracks break things easily. Just another reason the sport can't grow. The rc companies make big money but can't provide a decent track surface to race on. They finally got good announcers. That's a good thing. Plus they need better places for the fans to sit and enjoy. These tracks are just for the racers and that's why the sport can't grow. And separate each team in the pits.... It looks like kayos in thier. Not professional at all. What ever happened to a stock car style dirt high bank oval track? Grass roots racing... That would be cool. Think about it.
