Aging is a major reason for several diseases, driving a high incidence of morbidity and mortality. Cellular rejuvenation is one of the promising methods to counter the damaging effects of aging by reversing epigenetic information loss, a key hallmark of the aging process. This study explores partial reprogramming through the Yamanaka factors, a combination of Oct4, Sox2, Klf4, or OSK protein to reverse the aging process in cells and tissues. Adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector is being used to deliver these factors in aged mice, the study aimed to assess whether systemic partial reprogramming could extend lifespan and improve health outcomes, with potential therapeutic applications in humans.
