Gene Vincent was a real pioneer of rock, along with his original recording band (legendary Cliff Gallup on guitar!) way back in 1956. Great band behind him at this club in a terrific show, apparently a decade later.

Well hot and smoky. He is a mod and really owns this song. Shaking is pretty good too. Adds excitement to it. Thank you Gene again. No wonder he was so loved in the UK

Gene Vincent was a rock & roller and no mod at all. Just watch Quadrophenia and there is a scene where a Teddy Boy who admires Gene Vincent is critiziced for it from a mod. Back then it seemed you could not join both sides. Strange but true.

@chetcarman353011 ай бұрын
Sorry, but it looks like the audience is mostly not connecting with Sweet Gene. By 65, the Cavern crowd following The Beatles explosion had largely gone more Mod & were no longer fans of the Rocker/leather boy/greaser 50s style of Gene Vincent & others of the ilk. The filmmakers even had to insert clips of polite teens in seats applauding from some other situation or film clip -- not at The Cavern at all. Sad, because the very man who had inspired John Lennon and loved be The Beatles (and me!!!) was being virtually rejected by Beatles fans. The big change had happened, Beatlemania was peaking and Rockers like Gene Vincent were yesterday's news. 😢
