Before watching this video I was not aware of all the free resources that are online. Have been chasing my family tree for a few years. Taking the next step into the research thru DNA testing look forward to gaining another level of understanding. Thanks for the great video.. ed

Thanks for reminding me about Cyndi's List, I use to use it all the time about 10 years ago, but forgot all about it.

Great video and tips, Crista, but a heavy emphasis on US records. I would love to see a more global view in these webinars - looking at collections for the UK and other European countries, as well as Australia, NZ, etc.

I have done videos focused on UK records, Ireland, Germany, and elsewhere. I also include any new record collections (regardless of country of origin) on my monthly What's New at Ancestry video. I will try to be more conscious of being inclusive in the future. (~Crista)

I would recommend joining a group like "Transitional Genealogists Forum" or "ProGen Study Group." They frequently discuss issues such as this.

I know this is old, but I'm guessing the genealogy book site either has vastly changed, or it's disguised somehow now. All I can find are blogs, the latest being all about lower back pain! *eyeroll* The other sites are fantastic though! I appreciate you so much!

The genealogy books link website is very different in 2019 and I don't know if I'm not clicking on the links correct or if they've become a subscription service. I can't find the books. It always takes me back to the websites blog

One thing you can do when a site changes that much is to go to the wayback machine (web.archive.org) and then look back in time to see the site (I found that site back in 2015 so it was contemporaneous with this video and it looks the same).
