Same engine that's on my 27KW QS Generac... love how quiet it is.

Isn’t it incredible how much power these things produce and you can have a conversation right next to it.

The 22 & 27kW are naturally aspirated; the 32 & 38 are turbocharged/aftercooled. The fans on the 32 & 38 are somewhat bigger and their RPMs somewhat higher.

@@chandebrec5856 Thanks for the info. Looking at the specs, I also find it interesting that the dB sound output rating is actually less for the 32/38 than the 27. Perhaps it's the differences in the enclosure.
@chandebrec5856 Жыл бұрын
@@5thGenNativeTexan I've never personally listened to them, but people who have say that the RG022 is much quieter than the 22 kW air-cooled 3600 RPM model 7042, which is spec'd at 67 dBA. So I believe the 70 dBA spec on the RG022/27 is just wrong.
@Ratherbemilling Жыл бұрын
The air cooled is definitely louder then the RG022 or any liquid cooled at 1800rpm. Except for the 100kw, which is a beast and sounds it.

I am close to pulling trigger on Generac 38kw. I am a Cummins fan, but I compared fuel usage against the Cummins 32kw to Generac 38kw and I was shocked. Generac used less fuel at 25 and 50% load than the Cummins but more at 75 and 100% load. Since i believe I was stay at lower end of load I believe I would sabe lot of fuel costs plus have more KW.
@Ratherbemilling Жыл бұрын
The 38kw is my new favorite… you’ll have plenty of power to run multiple ac units and function normally with everything else in the house. Of course, depends on how many people live there and size of the condensers but for a 4-5k sq ft house you should be fine. The best part is the sound, the unit is very quiet. Make sure you get the mobile link set up with your WiFi. It’ll keep you updated as long as you have the dealer monitoring subscription. If you can, try to extend the weekly exercise time to 20min. It’s better for the unit.

The big thing with the 32kw unit is that it's turbocharged and doesn't get derated until 3000ft of elevation.

Yea, it’s a great unit. Too bad it’s discontinued

nice I'm having issues with one of these..do you have a video with wiring your controls for this from ATS?
@Ratherbemilling2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Leo. Unfortunately I don’t have a video that shows the wiring. Maybe I can help though. What’s your issue? What transfer switch are you using? And what type of wire did you use?

@@Ratherbemilling np thank you sir anyways I cant get it to start up owner mentions about having someone to do a start up and it apparently only had 120 volts to the generator. so I'm having to troubleshoot it now
@Ratherbemilling2 жыл бұрын
At N1/N2 you should have 240v. If you don’t check the fuses in the ats. Also, it’s very common for the wires to get mixed up if the colors are the same. Check all voltages at 0,194,23 n1,n2 battery charger must have 120 and it’s own neutral.

When are they going to come out with an inverter unit that has an eco mode to save on fuel, no reason to run 100% when not needed, and save your sensitive electronics.
@Ratherbemilling10 ай бұрын
These units go down to 25% of full load fuel consumption when there’s minimal load… they are more efficient than air cooled units. Eco mode or variable speed have been tried and don’t work well…and very expensive. Best comparison would be a car accelerating on the highway. When you floor it (turning on a heavy load) it takes a few seconds for the engine to come up to speed and put the power to the wheels. For a generator this would cause it to stall because it can’t react fast enough for the load. Hence you have to keep the speed of rotation at a constant.

@@Ratherbemilling gotcha, I had a portable open frame generator and my battery backups and game consoles hated it, I had to invest in a portable inverter generator, and don’t have any problems anymore, I looked into a whole house generator and the installation of the gas and electric killed it for me.
@Ratherbemilling10 ай бұрын
@@no1but24 portable units are very different, mainly because of the carburetor and fuel delivery… which effects the engine speed and reaction time. The inverter acts as a filter for the varying output frequency. Standby units have more Power engines and capacity which helps the frequency and loads. Unfortunately, labor to install standby units is high but it’s warranted considering how much work and materials are involved. Typical installs where we are cost around 20-30k. Insane!
