That is damn cleaver Dan! I should look into heating my shop! I have my ATO installed, put it in last week, but I'm using a Westinghouse 12 KW DF Generator and sorting through the start / stop wiring to make the ATO work with it. Then I'll be installing the SACM wires later. After Winter. My house is mostly propane (house heat, cooking, water heaters) so I won't need them until it time for Air Conditioners.

Nice touch using an end switch for the garage door, which is really independent of the generator function. BTW, most people overthink these installations. There's really no need for a drop-out relay on a drier because they will pause with a power interruption anyway. (requires manual restart) You really only need to deal with that if you have kids or a cleaning service that doesn't understand the word NO!

Agree with you there, but it was required by code at the time of install to remove the overload possibility systematically.

Mine has a heat pack as well. I disconnected 2 of the 3 elements (put them each on a toggle) . SO the HP and if necessary the one element (2500 watt element) will run on my 20KW genny. I have tested it and works well. can turn on 1 or 2 toggles depending on load.

That’s clever, how does it work if your away and outage happens?

Did you have to buy the Generac Auxiliary switch separate or is that built in from factory?

Mine was built in. Part of the transfer switch.

Great video ! Curious - was this inspected and approved ? I imagine inspectors would not be friendly with custom installations like this.
