General anaesthesia is a state of controlled unconsciousness. During a general anaesthetic, medications are used to send you to sleep, so you're unaware of surgery and don't move or feel pain while it's carried out.
An anaesthetic is a drug or agent that produces a complete or partial loss of feeling. There are three kinds of anaesthetic: general, regional and local. When a patient undergoes a general anaesthetic, they lose sensation and become unconscious.
General anaesthetics can be given in a number of ways. One method is by injecting drugs into your veins, and another method is by anaesthetic gas given by inhalation through a mask. Sometimes, injections and the anaesthetic mask can be used at the same time.

Stress and anxiety doesn't cause acid production rather it decreases it....what increases gastric secretion is its suppression by general anesthetics so parasympathetic stimulation is unhindered and thats why secretion increases...but what stress does is it cause gerd i.e reflux of gastric secretion into esophagus.
